Lol I guess I am picky, but none of the food is japanese. She says "japanese" in front of fried chicken and tomato, but that doesn't detract from the fact that this is western food. So far all the cooked food has been bread-related. She's literally an office lady from japan, whats going on? Doesn't she miss some darn good rice? Still a good manga, just find this to be odd.
Dude Japanese people have adopted stuff from other cultures... Just like UL and Spaghetti Bolognese otherwise we'd all be eating bread, cheese or very simple dishes limited only to native breeds of ingredients. Food is food and though they're Italian or whatever dishes originally, every country changes the dish slightly. Lasange in UK isn't same as Italy's. I should know. So maybe she just meant it that way?

The thing is for the main meals that she is making they are not even variations of western food, they are just legit, french toast and eggs and bacon. Most japanese cooking mangas, hell most mangas in general usually have SOME japanese dishes. (with the occasional school girl running with toast etc…) She can buy anything with her magic, so nothing is really stopping her. Part of me also just wants the other world characters to experience culture shock from her food and the priestess high school girl to feel nostalgia from her cooking :)

tbh i find her current behaviour more refreshing than her following that trope. she's cooking food she likes and doesn't discriminate by country. i find the 'japanese food mainly' trope with these cooking mangas over used. like at first it was okay but now it feels nice to have some VaRiAtIoN.
That's a perfectly legitimate opinion. (●'◡'●)ノ But I wouldn't say that japanese food is a trope. Shougeki no souma and many other cooking mangas cook a variety of cultural dishes, I just found it onesided how she is only making western foods and nothing else. However, you are totally right, if thats what she enjoys, then she should make it.
I think this may have a bit to do with the translation as well. However I believe she did mention that she liked to cook Western food, and that she wanted to make Japanese fried chicken which is very different from Western forms of fried chicken. So far she seems to be touching a bit on every country known for their food: American, French, Italian.......so I have no doubt she will cook something Japanese soon.

Yea exactly! She's not limiting herself to only Japanese food, but that doesn't mean she's outright gonna ignore it. I mean we're only in the single digit number of chapters
Hahaha when the only major conflict in their love story is not seeing a movie together. However, I don't mind that this is shounen ai, but I'd really like to see some more cuddling and affection!(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
