I skimmed thru the novel and the climax was totally different.
In the novel, Lunaria let them engage to each other. Initially the engagement was because of the wish of the queen, she wants her son to be together to her dearest best friend's beloved daughter (Lunaria). Although they also put a condition beforehand, if someday Dale breaks the engagement, Lunaria can mnhave one wish granted. (I don't know what she wishes for but there was a brief moment where Lunaria said she wants to make sure that the engagement annulment shall never be cancelled nor she can be forced to become Dale's concubine). The king (unlike how he acts passively in the manga) said that he allowed this to happen because of his wife. After all the drama happened, he mocked Dale and Manna. "A true love like the fairytale and a happily ever after. But have you thought about what happened after the fairytale's ending? A lowly noble who hasn't gotten any proper education to become a Queen but also needs to juggle through the duties as a Saint." Basically the King said that their future won't be sunshine and rainbows, the duties and responsibilities as future leaders are very much heavy. Lunaria was always educated and prepared to become a Queen, but Manna wasn't. Ofc both Manna and Dale were already sensing this and had attempts to persuade Lunaria to help them. But Lunaria declined and reiterated her wants earlier. She doesn't want to get involved anymore. Then, Manna seemed to regret this but Lunaria went off and celebrated her freedom. (There are still more chapters after this, but i only skimmed the graduation party arc because i wanted to see how Lunaria would decide about the demon king. It seemed like all this stuff is manga exclusive so whelp ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Let's just see how this goes).
Yeah i can totally relate lolol. I used to dream that i wanna be a full fledged artist but i took on a different path. It reminds me of how often i got the "why don't u become an artist" comments from people. Being an artist means having to tackle on responsibilities such as being able to create arts. This definition has been my shackles for years and i'm glad that Mori enlightened me that i shouldn't chain myself down to 'artist' title. I can draw yes but i'm not an artist. Just a little ol me.
