I just can't get on board with their postitions. I need them to be reversed and maybe I would be more into it.
But, the uke is basically bara to me which I didn't care for and the seme is a skeleton that looks like he'll drop soon. His cheeks are drawn sunken in.
Wanted to like it.

    Agreed.
To OP: if you don't like it then there's plenty of other mangas that have masculine semes. The majority draw masculine semes so I like it when there's a muscle-headed delinquent power bottom. I'm glad that you gave it a try though!

I don't get all the thumb downs you got. It's a matter of preference, like saying you like taller/shorter women or men or something...It all depends on the person. Personally, I've been reading yaoi for over a decade and I've read pretty much all genres and for the life of me I still can't get on board with extremely cruel semes (I like bdsm but there's kinky then there's manipulative and cruel)...
This is a fantasy world and no one is condoning or promoting anything so to each their own and if bara isn't for you then okay. Oh and just a heads up if you're somewhat of a newbie to yaoi, avoid naono bohra's work like the plague x'D I adore her and her work to bits but it's not for you since 99.9% of her stuff have an older/bigger/muscular uke

Eeh I wouldn't pay attention to the thumbs up vs thumbs down. It's more like an agree or disagree type of thing rather than the readers hating on the commenter. For a story like this it's to be expected that people will disagree with the OP's comment since they have made it a few chapters into the story already.

To OP: I agree with the equal partners idea. I want more switch couples. It just goes to show that position isn't that big of a deal when it comes to love -- or at least that's how I view it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Alllll free to our own judgments. Including the ones about disagreeing to others opinions. ლ(´ڡ`ლ) I feel as though there are too many "equal" mangas and not enough muscle-head subs. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ I also am for weaker doms. Barely see any of those.

I think the reason why this mangaka decided to have it this way, so it'll try to break away the stigma of 'cute is a bottom' and 'big and bulky is the top'. In the real world, that doesn't happen. Sure there are types with that dynamic, but there's also men who are like me, big and bulky who are a bottom. I understand this might not be something you're interested in, but there are thousands of BL series that support what you're looking for.

    Cryptixy July 9, 2019 9:42 pm

I think that the dom should be a more average build honestly and not look sickly thin but I love the bottom, I find him real “cute” or attractive.

wicketginger July 8, 2019 3:14 pm

I just like the art for these manga so much. They are drawn so cute!
Their facial expressions with their tiny mouths and sparkly eyes. I just like to look at them.
I want to put them in my pocket. Cute as a button.

wicketginger July 4, 2019 5:32 am

This was one of my first manga. It's all over the place. So many couples to keep up with and so many connections. I probably need to re-read because it's such chaos to me.
The couple I liked was the rich boy trying to be a bad boy with his bad boy boyfriend. I was sad to see that end. I wish he would have left through that window instead of staying when he heard his mom.

I hate Ueno. Kawai was terrible top with her manipulations and lying but ueno still takes The cake. People never stepped in to really stop her any of the times she was hurting shouko.

She was never dealt with when she slapped her on the Farris wheel, she was never truly dealt with when she attacked her at the hospital (and no one told ishida like they should have. He needed to know and she needed to disappear but people just over looked it), and she was never dealt with any of the times she verbally attacked her. She just got to run around doing whatever she wanted and they kept allowing her. I was even surprised and upset the sister didn't even step in.

Also, back to the whole hospital part, fuck her. She honestly thought she could play that roll like some gf putting restrictions on others. No one stopped her then either. Kawai tried but nothing. The mother didn't even do anything. What the fuck. She did all these serious big things and when she was caught, it was brushed under the rug.

I hated that she got any leeway with ishida. I liked his attitud toward her in the beginning after they saw each other again. He should have stayed in that mentality the whole manga.

Aside from her, I liked it a lot. Mashiba was fucking awesome. I liked him the best. That teacher was horrible!! So much worse than the movie depiction of him.

I didnt read the manga but i watched the movie recently and i think some of the stuff you mentionned were explained. First of all, yes she kept being mean to Nishi even when she did grow up, but she did admit that she is a bad person and she said she can’t come to like Nishi(but in the movie at the end, it’s hinted that Ueno will try to get along with Nishi when she tried sign language). I honestly didnt understand the relationship between the MC and Ueno, why could he forgive her and not his childhood best friend(is that answered in the manga). But keep in mind that the MC himself was a hell of a bully so this manga is about forgiveness. (Still Ueno is a horrible person and Kawaii will make big dramas to make sure not to be blamed) I honestly didnt understand why both these girls acted the way they did. Ueno legit puts all the blames on Nishi and yet Ueno bullied the MC herself(Ueno even said Nishi would rat them to the adult but Nishi didnt?? And Ueno said Nishi didnt want to communicate but she is deaf...) anyway maybe some of this was the movie lack of storytelling. The story seemed to focus more about people trying to change rather than romance. The MC learned to look at people, Ueno trying to accept Nishi, Kawai trying to think about others and Nishi trying to love herself or something like that.

The thing is, in the movie, we know that Nishi love the MC, and the MC(after awaking from his coma) told her he needed her to enjoy life? But he didn’t confess love, and i think at the end of that scene he made a sign(that i didnt see the traduction for so i dont know)

I didn't understand a damn thing. I didn't know who's name belonged to who, or any of the back story stuff for any of the characters, or the stuff about the the temple and dog blood, or any of it.

I was super glad he didn't go for the glasses twin. I thought it was headed that way. I was also so confused with the twins relationship. I don't get anything involving that mana (whatever her name is) woman. Was she sleeping with both twins or what?

This author has a thing for beastiality. I don't mind it but it's not a turn on when they have sex in beast form.

Didn't understand any of it like I said but he got with the twin I wanted so that's my take away.

If anyone can explain any of the points I brought up, I would appreciate it.

    Spazcat July 12, 2019 4:48 am

At all the temples for inugami, the local spirit bonds with one of a set of twins. The bonded twin becomes more doglike, and can't stay away from his inugami for long while bonded. Unbonded humans can't stay in the inugami sanctuary without suffering pain.

If the bonded twin decides that break his bond with the inugami, his family all get cursed except for his twin, who is forced to become the new bonded person to the inugami. In addition, the first twin slowly turns into dog and eventually dies. Aoi (the uke) was apparently conceived while his dad was bonded with inugami at the main temple, and therefore is part inugami. As a result, he doesn't suffer the normal bad side effects of visiting the inner shrine.

It's not clear whether his conception is what caused his dad to break his inugami bond. Anyway, most of his family ends up dead because of his father, which is why Aio ends up an orphan and ignorant of all this. Being homosexual caused conflict with his foster family, but then the kid's dad took him in as a younger brother. Unfortunately, this nice guy ended up with some terminal illness, and now Aoi is raising his son.

During the story, Aoi's biological uncle is the main temple's bonded person, and he's ecstatic to find out he has a nephew alive and apparently not cursed.

    Spazcat July 12, 2019 5:05 am

The twins we deal with in the story are at one of the smaller inugami temples. Glasses twin is a major bro-con, and feels like he needs to devote himself to his twin. His fiancee, Mana, was trying to find a way for the bonded twin to have more freedom, in hopes that glasses twin would chill out and make time for her. Glasses twin misunderstood, thinking she was into his brother.

So if he (aoi’s dad) is bonded with the inugami then does that means he become part inugami? That’s why Aoi has some dog blood? And when you say bonded as in a couple? what is the relationship between the inugami and the chosen twin(inugami’s mistress). Because since hakumei and aoi gotten together then isn’t that betraying the bond? Or is the bond is just for some one to live there, worship, and take care of the shrine while helping the souls? And That would aoi’s dad didn’t betray the inugami because of having aoi but the fact that he left the temple.

I don't know. I felt terrible and upset throughout this manga with the whole ex boyfriend thing. I think it was pretty crappy of the ex and the friend. The uke was the only one who told the truth and put it out there.

The others were suppressing their feelings and lying to themselves while doing hurtful things (maybe not intentionally but just still shitty) as far as I see it. I guess some would say they were being mature adults about it but I find that to be an excuse.

I wasn't a fan.

Kotaro. Cannot stand him. I hate this cliche with the easily bullied uke that easily gets manipulated and doesn't say no because it would be rude.
Not going right to his boyfriend to tell him about being harassed by the blonde or not being forceful to get him out of their apartment. Do you know how much his boyfriend would lose it if he learned that guy had been in their apartment!?!
I can't stand how he took care of that guy and fell for all his traps or that even after his boyfriend found out and told him not play house husband for him he still says he has too because he can't leave him be when the injury was his fault!! It was the blondes fault because he forced himself in.
Like this manga but can't stand those third party scenarios. Those are hard for me to read especially when they are so avoidable or can be easily dealt with.

It really upset me to learn he slept with his superior. He's been stalking his friend for 4 years basically and has only ever loved him and onmy ever wanted to keep loving him but yet he slept with someone else.
If you have that kind of love for someone and go to those lengths how could you sleep with someone else!?!
His friend was rejected and so he cut contact and he never touched another person because he was so in love and never stopped but yet the other guy could?!
It still feels like it's a betrayal and cheating. I have obscure views I guess. It just makes me feel gross he could that

Maybe but, the uke broke up with the seme, so I'm not sure why he was the one feeling unloved and undesired when HE's the one who suggested dating girls.

Plus he knew where the seme was and could have contacted him at any time, he was just too much of a coward to do so. Those two aspects of it, in addition to him basically stalking the seme, makes him sleeping around a little sketchy. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but it is sketchy, and makes me think a bit less of the uke.

Kawasaki took advantage of him in a weak state, and continued to have sex with the excuse of it being "educational" and never told him how he felt.

Just because Fujita loved him for 4 years doesn't mean he can't sleep with someone else. And the way he said it, he really didn't feel like he had much of a choice. The guy was a superior at his workplace that he couldn't quit at the time & he was super aggressive. To judge Fujita on a tiny plot point that isn't explored is WILD

Sure, but did it look like he wanted to be in a relationship with that guy? It just seems awfully critical to say this about Fujita given how clearly distressed he was.

I was rereading Oko-sama Star (which is one of my all time favorite stories) and them decided to reread this one, because I've read it only once. I thought it was weird, that I gave it a score of only 3*, when I'm usually pretty generous with my *... and then I understood that rating in those last few pages. The fact that Fujita slept with his boss made me sick. He literally stalked Kawasaki, but then slept with another guy just like that... it just feels ugh, I totally get what you mean by your comment.
I loved the part where we looked into Kawasaki, but Fujita was honestly a bit annoying. They are both at fault for their messy relationship and assuming, but Fujita was the one who ended it, without any consideration for Kawasaki's feelings.
Anyway, it would be much better if Fujita didn't mention that hookup, because that made his feelings feel less genuine...

I really can't stand this thread. I'm sorry I have to ask but, are you virgins? People have sex outside of relationships all the time? He thought the seme didn't love him, was just taking pity on him so of course he broke it off? Would you stay in a relationship where the other person didn't love you? I sure af wouldn't. That didn't mean he stopped loving the seme though so he lowkey stalked him. Who cares whether or not the boss forced him? He's allowed to sleep with other people. Even if he doesn't love him. Sex releases endorphins like anything else. Drinking, binge eating, but I don't see you rating 3 stars to ukes that instead chase their sorrows in a bottle instead of human connection. Having sex with someone else wasn't going to solve his problems and he knew that, but maybe it would feel like they didn't have him by the throat

Yes I absolutely agree. Fujita broke it off because Kawasaki never told him clearly that he loved him so he must have felt hurt, but of course being in love still he wanted to be near to the person he loved in whatever ways he could after. He WASNT in a relationship with Kawasaki when he slept with his superior, and it didnt sound like it was in any way meaningful sex. Its really naive how people can judge him and get feeling all distasteful just on that.

I totally agree with u!! Some people have sex friends even if they have a one-sided love with someone else. It's not considered cheating for God's sake! They were not in a relationship.Yeah sure the seme didn't fuck someone else, doesn't mean the uke shouldn't. Sex feels good, it's actually considered healthy to do it regularly. It can help release stress just like anything else that releases u from stress. Having sex with others while in an unrequited love doesn't make the feelings less genuine, everyone is making it sound like people don't actually get sexually frustrated or horny.

Exactly what I was thinking, the views on feelings in this thread is entirely too shallow and naïve. And apparently everyone blames the Uke entirely when the souring of their relationship is the fault of both parties.
"I love him so I must stay pure even if we're not together or even better haven't spoken in years" that's a good deal of naïve thinking
