I read the reviews saying it was based on a true story and people liked it because of that. I find it pretty sad that two people did this to each other in real life.
The leaving for a year part was pretty shitty. He made it clear the uke was the one he loved, went as far as to tell his sister, made it clear he would reject the marriage, and that he would convince his family of his same sex relationship. He promised he was coming back.
What actually happened was that he didn't reject the marriage at all. He even went as far as to live with her seriously to try out if they would fit or not. He contacted the uke for a while but stopped after not getting a response. That's a pretty shitty way to treat the person you say you love and are coming back to.
If it had worked out with the woman, he was going to leave the uke. He was going against his promises and making all his confessions of love empty. Coming back after he did all that, I find that to be crap.
I'm reading this to escape reality not for any realism. They also built up the sexual frustration and didn't deliver. Disappointing. To each their own.

The situation there wasn't shown too, maybe their parents are just so forceful so they need a concrete proof that they won't work out. It's hard to refuse your parents will without saying the exact reason, especially he wasn't exactly good at words and couldn't lie either. About him stopped contacting him, well, it's only been a month while he kept trying for the rest of the year. It's not a short time, and maybe at that point he started thinking that he was bothering Akira so he stopped, and decided to just come back. It took so long just to convince them to let go of the marriage, and maybe he was worried since Akira went MIA so he went back as soon as possible without having the chance to convince their parents. He just made them disappointed with the failed marriage proposal, maybe he didn't have the heart to break the news so suddenly right after that. At least that's my opinion though, I just want to give you another point of view. Sorry it's so long

Well I never really bring this topic in omegas story, because it just doesn't make sense to compare two phenomenons (reality and fiction) who have few things in common. If there wasn't the heat involved then yeah it would be definitely considered rape, but would this situation still happen if it wasn't for the heat? I mean I am sure that what I am going to say will sound morally wrong but still, omegas/alphas are different than real humans. Humans don't go in heat, females/ males don't go in heat or ruts so rape shall never be justified. In this fictional society they do, so even if it sounds bad the rape in this situation is more like an accident then a criminal act. It's like both the alphas and omegas are the victim. The omega should have remembered to take the medicines, because the pheromones have the power to attracts alpha and in a way make them lose the power to act and think consciously. The alpha is at fault in a way because the omega couldn't give consent to the act, but if you think about it neither could the alpha.
I mean I know that I may sound like an asshole, but that's the way it is. Never compare reality 'morals' to fiction 'morals' because it just doesn't make any sense, these things don't exist.
