1. We learned he has mommy issues. Suddenly everything makes sense, especially his obsession with this older divorced woman

4. If anything good came out of this chapter it was honestly just the art. The author clearly draws very well which is the only reason Iāve stuck around. It was nice to see a fat character drawn realistically and not having a design that makes fun of their fatness of frames it as ugly. Sheās just a plump older lady and it adds to her characterization. The side view where sheās looking up was drawn particularly well and realistically while still fitting an anime style despite not being able to draw the basic anime jaw. Would love to see this mangaka team up with somebody thatās good at writing and that can be in charge of the story because this author is great at the visual art aspect but the writing is so lack luster and problematic.
it freaks me out when ppl who have mommy or daddy issues are attracted to older people (from what I see irl too) makes me think their looking for that parental love in those ppl but they just dont know it or maybe im wrong who knows

You gotta admit thereās some clear projection in this case. As a woman going through divorce and him clearly having a lot of trauma around both his mother and divorce I think itās a big reason for his interest in her. Not necessarily saying itās an Oedipus complex but thereās not way the two women/situations arenāt linked in his mind. I think heās subconsciously trying to work through some of his issues/trauma with this woman and because sheās not family and is attractive it ads a layer or intrigue for a young straight boy and makes sense those feelings would also conflict if heās seeking closure/closeness/affection through this women thatās paralleling his mother

Carl Jung has a similar theory, the Electra complex, specifically about girls and their attachment to their father and resentment of their mother.
