Idk why but him saying "I promise you, I will live a lot longer than you." Is so special and sad because that means he is going to try his best to live on after his lover's death and it would be just him alone. In mangas I've read it's usually "I'll die after you die" but I think it's much more painful to live on alone after your lover dies.
It really is painful, not that I have experienced it but I’m a romantic inside lol that’s why I preferred endings like dying together hand in hand because of old age
