Well he was taught all his life that love is the most important and as his love was dying he went to help her.Even if his family was dying he knew his sister was capable of sustaing their father.Then again he believes (and its true) his sister is better than him at anything so its normal to believe that,he came back to check on them since he was worried as a normal person would. i dont blame him and neither do i want for him to suffer.

yes he was taught LOVE was the most important. not lovER. what about familial love? love between father and son? between sister and brother? he abandoned his VERY sick father and sister. He knew his sister was capable okay but that doesn’t mean he can put her through that heartbreak of being abandoned by her brother and being left alone with a sick father. Pretending to be a guy when ur not as a SOLDIER?? that’s treason. again if caught both her father and she would be executed. He came back to check on them since he was worried? who put them in that situation in the first place?

I feel that the cont villainazing is unfair. Its as if he went and never come back to them, but he was conscious enough to go back and apologize over and over again. He clearly feels (and is) inferior to her sister and despite all of that he still offers to turn everything back and go back to the military, but since Selena already made contact with the prince, she can do that. Sure, he's the reason this all happening, but he isn't shameful enough to admit it wasn't his fault.

yall acting like he did a great thing because he came back... the thing is IF fl hadn’t stepped up he would’ve been coming back to two corpses. and IF his sister had stepped up and got caught he would’ve been coming back to two corpses. It’s unfair to say someone should suffer for pushing his own living family to death?? by execution?? and since their father is a renowned hero the additional humiliation from the fact his son abandoned his duties and his sick father and sister? also u said "he still offers to turn everything back" like he’s doing a great thing. NO. That was his DUTY that he abandoned and his father and sister that he abandoned. Okay he feels inferior to his sister.. sounds like a "him" problem why should his dad and sister have to possibly die because of it? Admitting fault isn’t enough! not enough when he literally could’ve KILLED his sick father and sister. Also i’m not vilifying him.
