I have a feeling this is goin to be one of those instances where the Duke is magically there at the right time to catch the dads hand before he swings down to hit her, tends to always happen.
A real twist would be if he actually hit her and the Duke sees her red cheek or something and gets overly pissed, not saying I want her getting hurt or anything but it would be something different from what happens in almost every single story.

They're all sittin there freakin out about finding her but they're the ones who left her there alone, I mean come on, she's 7. There's like 6 or 7 adults and not even one of them could've stayed behind to babysit.
IDC how old she is mentally, she's still in a 7 yo body and in a different reality then what she was familiar with in her past life.
Idk how it is in other countries but in the US if you get caught leaving a kid that young alone at home like that someone could easily call child services on you and get written up for child neglect and probly endangerment.
