At first I thought this manga was going to be the typical falling in love with your childhood friend kind of story, but decided to read it anyways since I love this author's works. But the recent development in chapter 2 makes it more interesting, since we don't have a lot of homophobe main characters, it's going to be interesting how the story is going to develop.
One of the pages says this is chapter 1, so does this have a continuation? or is it part of a series of oneshots?
Not a oneshot neither is it a part of a series of oneshots. It is a complete series with 5-6 chapters I cannot recall...RAWs can be downloaded/found by googling it...

I was re-reading, and I realized, is what we're reading right now the flashback before he went missing in highschool, or is it the afterwards he went missing in high school? Because if it's the flashback, wouldn't that mean that they're middle schoolers right now?

Jian Yi shows up at Zhan Zheng Xi's apartment bloody, bruised, and beaten wearing his high school uniform and book bag.

I think what we've been following now is their high school time. It's when Jian Yi got back from his disappearance.
Except Jian Yi was gone for several years. He disappeared his second day of high school and returned like 3 or 4 years later when Zhan Zheng Xi was in college.
Then the story suddenly goes back to their middle school years. Because there is never a mention of Jian Yi disappearing and they are both living with their parents (as the sleepover chapters show) when the first chapters have them as roommates in Zhan Zheng Xi's apartment.
What do you guys think her boyfriend's secret is? My guess is that her boyfriend is gay, and is using her to cover it up. Or maybe I've been reading too many yaois.

Yeap! I really wish to read a yaoi story that has a "...and 30 years later..." kinda thing. I think the only old gay couple I've seen in any manga is the couple from Kouun no Rihatsushi, the grandpa couple.
