Yansheng is such an a**hole. Really!! I know people keep secrets from him and he is kept in the dark this whole time and he is so gullible, but that doesn't excuse his behavior towards Wen Niannan.
I'm just satisfied that in the novel, Gu Yansheng is suffering and regretting. Just what we need!
Yeah what i hate most about Gu Yangshen is that he keeps justfying his behaviour by blaming it on Wen. In his mind, Wen marrying him for money (which is not the truth but is what he thinks) justifies him physically abusing him, cheating on him, verbally berating him, publicly humiliate him. Like no. Calm down.

What he went through (the kidnapping) and his mom, zhoufeng, shen luoan hiding stuff from him making him a pawn for their games is completely separated from the fact that he CHOSE to treat Wen Niannan like shit. Which is why even though he doesnt know what's going on most of the time, I don't sympathize with him. Acting upon influence and acting upon choice are completely two different things
my mom used to be like his mom. Utterly manipulative, telling us that we can't go hang with friends because she's worried and then she starts pinning the blame on us. But then she changed because of my sister (i wont say what she did) but yeah she became more understanding and we became closer to her

Honestly got sad for Yansheng, he had no idea what was going on he was like a puppet, everyone was hiding things from him. Buttt he is still a perpetrator so reading his state now as the story progresses is satisfying

I put the words in google translate, it said "blame your face", but well papago said "blame yourself for being black", but the meanings from both machine translators are reallly different
hello! wanted to add my 2 cents as a chinese speaker, the phrase 怪你脸黑 directly translated does mean "blame your face for being black" but it actually means "its your fault for being in a bad mood". its a figure of speech in the chinese language and isnt inherently racist. in fact, the language commonly uses color to describe emotions, like red is used for anger/embarrassment, white is used for fear etc. hope this clarifies!ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~
This makes me feel much better I guess, but the translator didn't even try to put the metaphor in there which comes off as rude now because the person it was directed to was black. The translator could have used the metaphorical term instead. Thanks for clarifying!
