I'm not Korean, but I'm also Asian, and we have something like that at my place too. Asian cultures tend to be more strict and conservative, especially when it comes to women. You are instantly considered a disgrace to your family, if you even have sex before marriage, I'm not even talking about getting pregnant. There are still families to this day who check if the girl their son is about to marry is a virgin. Like literally. There is also this disgusting thing when your in laws check if there is virgin blood on your bed sheets after your first night with your husband. And if there is, they call the girl's parents to thank them for raising their daughter nicely.
