He did it because it was ‘right’ and the only way to keep the others safe, but didn’t realize that what he was doing was hurtful and making people fear him for it. But because nobody would tell him that was he was doing was wrong, even if he himself felt it was wrong, he felt he had to keep doing so.
But the question is, who initially instructed him to do this? And even if there was nobody doing so, I’m curious as to where he actually came from, bc I know for a fact this man isn’t human.

And as some people mentioned, this exhaustion, coldness, oddness at times, mixed messages, I think that’s because he doesn’t know how to be ‘human’. He’s going through things for what seems like the first time.
He knows a certain set of rules, and has made it his duty to ensure they’re kept for the safety of everyone else, so that, like in this instance, people don’t get hurt. It’s literally like a hound puppy being trained. So when something does go wrong, even by others fault, he (though not openly emotionally) takes a blame. That’s what I’m getting so far from this

But the era this story was set on was on Medieval Era(Duchy) where children marriages and similar custom was fairly acceptable and permissible, but it's not a common practice even back then. And even if the Emperor married his spouse at an early age, they both need to be at the appropriate age to have a heir in order for their marriage to be consummated. Nobility from back then married not for love and sexual pleasures, but to strengthen their connections and political power.
So to use the word grooming, which was created not until the late 19th century is just pure stupidity and ignorant. Might as well accused every single European King from back then as pedo if people can't even be bothered to take their time to learn some historical facts.
