The side story should not exist. This couple worked so well in the main story because it was an exaggerated over dramatic representation of stereotypes in the omegaverse genre. And the added aspects such as calling the cops on an abusive seme was a nice touch - this is never done in the omegaverse. So the portrayal served to critique omegaverse stereotypes.
Grounding the relationship in realism detracts from the function of this couple in the main story. So now we just see the portrayal of an abusive, toxic marriage. It could have been empowering for the omega but the ending shows us that the omega actuality hasn’t moved on.
The alpha was a manwhore, wanted to mark someone else, was physically and verbally abusive but then suddenly fell in love? Because baby? And the uke was, of course, head over heels in love with the asshole for some reason.
I was happy when they divorced. The alpha started seeing someone new immediately. Of course. And then the uke says he’s a patient man, implying that since he waited long enough he now got a better version of the alpha. So the alpha can run around and do whatever he wants and then come back once he’s changed.
FUCK THIS.
This alpha is the probably the only person this uke has ever slept with. And the alpha has had multiple sex partners in his lifetime. Why the gendered stereotypes?
The main story was so impactful partly because it went against omegaverse stereotypes. And now with the side story we are back to square one.
I swear. It would have been so refreshing if it was clear that they never got back together. And agreed on custody rights or something. Instead we get the same old nonsense.
