As it stands, all three characters are unlikable. The main character, because he completely lacks any will power to a girl who is completely selfish in her desires to have two men at once (not uncommon in some yaois I’ve read) but also because he has allowed himself to be in that position. Sadly, At this point he can blame himself. Sadly, He also has zero defense when it comes to Sunbae who is ALSO completely manipulating his love interest feelings because he “finds him attractive”. Which makes the sunbae a manipulative creep always smiling while having no regard for his love interest feelings and acting as if he doesn’t comprehend the word consent (again typical of yaoi)
Id love to see this develop into not so much the typical trope because quiet frankly I LOVE a good story and a beautifully written yaoi one at that. The art is gorgeous! But for the love of genuine good stories with a bit of angst and passion please MC have some balls (not those balls yet lol) just tell him “fuck it, tell everyone but if you think for a second that’ll make me fall for you because you think you can manipulate and blackmail me rather than you actually ever respecting my feelings then no I won’t like you!” and for the love of God MC have some actual self worth. This girls a thotbot and youre being hurt and manipulated by two people now. Me thinks that obviously Sunbae will win in the end sweeping MC off his feet, I just hope he listens at that point without the creepy smiles and gesters. It was cute at first but now he’s just being ignorant with his feelings Lol Here’s to hope.

I’m actually a part of the rare few that actually likes when a side couple/s are added to the story. It makes it so that the story is almost like a huge adventure for me, like a movie, show or sitcom. I’m so used and tbh annoyed by the typical tropes of “you assaulted me and after 10-30 chapters we are blissfully in love and never address the rape and your consistent abuse of power” “suddenly you changed from manipulative rapist to hero, please save me from the other rapist because you’re less of a rapist now” LOL
I enjoy a plot that develops. Here we have something that’s rare in shounene ai but especially rare in yaoi. The characters are seeking to actually understand their own feelings as part of the lqbt community but also to understand each other. It makes the story waaay more understable as to the “how did they fall in love”. I’m over stories that jump from strangers to lovers. I also enjoy seeing characters day to day lives. This story could even be an anime with how it develops!
I don’t think that the uncle and redhead are meant to show a difference in power and “abusive relationship” In fact, if we further research on how Lihuan was helped by the fushoshi then we remember the author speaking on how you can’t just try to hook up people like a manga. The girl meant well but was wrong because she tried to give Lihuan advice using manga. If we take that example/lesson the author applied for her and use it with the uncle and redhead we can understand that many Yaois/shounen ai often has this “straight turn gay causes girls reject me” a very unrealistic approach to trying to get with someone and play on the same team.
The uncle is obviously annoyed by the redheads arrogance and behavior. I don’t think it’s meant to show that their relationship is abusive, it’s meant to give the redhead a wake up call. That you can’t just play with peoples emotions and force the uncle to like you and “turn gay” because women reject you. This is the uncles place of business. It is his establishment and if he sees someone causing trouble he’s kicking you out. The redhead actually has to grow up and I believe that is the lesson here. But hey, what do I know. I’m here for the ride and I look forward to more stories from the author with develop lament instead of everyone jumping each other bones after 10 chapters of no consent
I feel the same, just I want to see all the couple's together and happy like right now so all the waiting drives me nuts haha.
Thanks for this - it feels like a piece that encourages the reader to thoughtfully consider the characters beyond face value, find empathy for them, and then relate to the aspects of the characters’ plights through that lens. Like any good book, graphic novel etc. you’d hope to reach the end and feel a bit enlightened.
As an aside, I’m confused as to why people are so frustrated. We all definitely love the main couple, but there’s also been many darling future snapshots. We know they come back around. The beginning and the end are simply slowly stitching together, right?

I agree, the development is actually really good. Even what could have seemed like a cliche of Ed who could have been just a straight guy falling for McQueen, it doesn’t necessarily happen right away and in the way that many of us are use to in terms of yaoi because we are taken into the emotions and feelings behind what Ed is experiencing..We are understanding how he got in this position of being in the industry. How he came to realize what he felt..what he was feeling in the moments he was in it. He himself even in denial and then finally acceptance. From the descriptions of McQueens glare, etc..We understand what led Ed here..what led them together. We see Ed discover who he is. It’s refreshing. McQueens walls he’s place around himself being taken down by someone like Ed, he also did not expect it. Down to McQueen complex feelings he tried to put into words to describe how Ed made him feel, how he couldn’t understand it, how McQueen hated and loved it. They are rediscovering themselves and each other. It’s good
I like that the tension that was created is that this relationship is vulnerable on many levels, but it's set up for it to play to each of the MC's strengths to bolster the other.

Actually great! Who would have thought a porn industry story could evoke so much emotion and have a generally decent backstory. All the tension, the ups and downs and more to come. I’m ready for the future and I want to know more. I really feel like McQueen and Ed are experiencing true love for the first time
