I mean, it's yaoi. In real life, I'm sure the mangakas and other people know gay couples switch and whatnot. But in yaoi, they often like making the characters fit certain roles, like the Uke and Seme. Plus, the uke often ends up being the girlier one while the seme is the manlier one. Obviously, we know real gay couples aren't like that either. But again, that's just the cliché yaoi trope.
