I think she was totally sincere and came from an honest place. I just hope the mom feels like a dick now that she knows how mature and reliable her daughter really is despite her horrible treatment of her.

And honestly this type of behavior is a reality. I think the point of this manga was that yoshinaga was embarrassed and Kusaba must have picked up on that which is why he said," finally you're being honest," when yoshinaga said what was in his head at the end of the story. This could have gone to a much darker place, but it didn't. It's a story and stories get you to think about how you would react in a similar situation, which is great. and if you say, "oh my god, I'd never let someone treat me like that no matter how handsome they may be," then you know yourself and good for you.

Yes, I wish someone would take out all the extras at the end that are just repeats of scenes from earlier in the series because they interrupt the flow of the last story arc and ruin the impact of the ending!
