I really like that she called him out for putting down other girls and acting like it’s a compliment to her. And that he learned a lesson from it and never did it again. You see a lot of toxic “Not like other girls” narratives out there and it’s nice to see that get shot down.

So i might be wrong on this, but I think that the High Priest looked like an evil spirit because she was in mourning for Roel and so her form reflected that. So that’s why she burst into light/ happy tears when she realized Roel was alive.
I don’t know why everyone is getting pissed at Renée for “not being honest”. Yes, in general it is better to just be honest and say you don’t like someone. However, until very recently, Renée has seen Cabel as someone who is unhinged and violent and even now aggressively grabs her wrists and drags her off to a cliff side while speaking VERY aggressively. OF COURSE she’s scared of him and what his reaction would be.
In real life, women have to fear for their life when they have to turn a guy down EVEN when done as softly as possible. The only reason why we know he’s not gonna do anything crazy is because we are READERS and he’s a ML. WE know the tropes, characters Do not. Also this is the central conflict of the story and y’all are like “ok get past it now pls” it’s been like 2 days in story god
