I think what happened is:
- Doc is trying to use GJ’s soul to cleanse the bullet
- Doc was making sure their souls stay seperate, but he was distracted by the attack
- Due to that Cain’s soul was kinda consuming (?) GJ’s to heal up
- Doc knows the bullet hasn’t been fully removed so he resolved to sacrifice GJ to finish the job
- Cain notices policeman disappearing and senses something wrong, so he finds him and grabs him
- Then Cain breaks out of the spell using his own power with GJ’s consciousness, hence saving him from dying. But the ritual was stoped midway so half of the bullet is still inside his heart.

I love the way they handle every single character with respect. Even with Minato’s mum who tried to understand him but failed to for so long that her unfortunate actions caused him grieve, in the end was presented the misunderstanding matter-of-fact-ly and all of them learn and move on. I desperately wish there would be an extra on Akiyoshi because the poor boy deserves to find his own happiness, but I can settle with knowing that he will be fine.

I don’t usually read straight smut so can someone enlighten me on why is ML trashy? I actually think he’s quite decent. Their sex is consensual. After they slept together a few times, Hachiya decided to stop it because it was basically friend with benefits at that point and he knew that is not what she should be in, considering he was her first time. Yes he said he would rather going out with another girl but it wasn’t intended to hurt her and he explained it was a white lie. Instead of exploiting FL for sex, he asked to date her and treats her well.
