I normally don’t give rating early in but this deserves full 5 stars simply for the prequel and that quality amount of sake knowledge! I don’t drink but working in hospitality and Japanese restaurant in particular, I’m quite fascinating with wine and sake. It’s great to read smut and learn more stuff for your job at the same time muahaha it’s a shame we don’t get a wide range of great regional sake here in Australia compared to when I was working in Japan.

Thank you for whoever that uploaded the raws. At least I know quickly that I can drop this one.
[SPOILER]

There’s incest, the half brothers have a complicated past and Makoto’s personality is mostly their mother’s fault. That said, a lot of their actions don’t make sense and as a reader I feel extremely disconnected to their sufferings, hence the decision to drop it. I’m sure others may find it suit their taste though.

    Incest makes it even better

Wait who are half sibling? Makto, yuu? Ai and beti WHO?

I believe the “pair” mentioned several times in chapter 5 refers to work partner, not the “fated pair”. That should clear the confusion.

There are also comments telling Ayame to “just bite him like the alpha that he is”. It might be interesting for you guys to read the introduction on Amazon for volume 2. Rough translation (can be told from either 1st or 3rd position):

“The idea of ‘fated pair’/‘soul pair’, I hate it.

An elite alpha, extremely capable of work yet unable to convey the gentleness from his heart, that is Satsuki Ayame.
At the company, I re-encounter my high school kouhai, omega Shimotsuki Shuu.
Ever since the old days, whenever we are near I can’t help but feeling wanting to protect him at all cost.
Even after settling with staying by his side as a work partner, I can’t do it properly.
Always wanting to treasure him, but (unfortunately) I am an alpha.
I just want to believe that people can choose their beloved person based on emotions and feelings” (not being dictated by pheromone).

Ayame is hopelessly romantic.

Fun fact: it’s possible to guess their birth month based on their names. Their surnames Satsuki (Ayame) and Shimotsuki (Shuu) are old Japanese month names, meaning May and November respectively.

My new favourite!

“Yayoi’s kind kisses fall and pile up just like the snow” DAMN SO ROMANTIC
this has got to be one of the most honest portrayals of love, ever.

I truly enjoy reading about their journey. Unlike other manga about student-teacher relationship, here we have two people not in a hurry to cross the line. How Ikuta confessed without pressing sensei for an answer, how sensei accepted his feeling WITHOUT reciprocating (which is inappropriate and risky considering their situation), how they spent time together (to actually teach and study! Bwahaha), how sensei gently but firmly turned down the date and Ikuta simply admitted defeat and moved on, how Ikuta noticed the uneasiness in sensei and reassured him - basically, I just love how they patiently, lovingly, painstakingly treasure and protect their feelings for each other until Ikuta graduates. Just enough closeness, just enough distance. Because the story is told from sensei’s POV, I love how we are shown to the changes of his heart, from being fearful of getting close to people and doubtful of Ikuta’s confession to being at peace with his love for Ikuta and treasuring him by keeping it to himself while he was still a student and his responsibility. On the other hand, Ikuta showed extreme maturity for his age, never forcing sensei to do anything against his will and being content with spending time at each other’s company. It was funny when his friend finally found out about their relationship at the graduation!
However, personally I found the final sex at school a bit distasteful. I wish they had kept their relationship out of the school. Why risk it when you are just one step away from the graduation? For the characters it must be something memorable to look back fondly, but I was a bit taken aback... if you could have waited a year then surely a few more hours should not be a problem. (I sound like a concerned parent lol).
The female teacher is completely fictional (realistically I don’t think anyone in her position would vocally support a teach-student relationship, especially using such ambiguous words - you never know what you are advocating for). I feel like she’s created to be everyone’s favourite side character, but she ends up a spectator and didn’t really contribute to the main story.

by reading your spoiler, now i'm dying to read the whole manga

Pidapipo September 7, 2019 8:31 pm

YOUR. MOTIVATION. SWITCH.
I don’t remember laughing this hard OMG lol
“Why did I even fall in love with a person like this... but then on the other hand, my heart is so happy just from something like this. I’m pathetic” I’m dying from their interactions...

Pidapipo September 7, 2019 8:06 pm

I didn’t expect it to be this good. It’s great that we can see both of them slowly falling deep in love with each other.

Pidapipo September 5, 2019 4:29 pm

You all hating on her but if your crush so much as throwing a glance at your direction you would be dreaming of him confessing to you that night
┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
He may not be her crush, but he’s still her ex and they broke up when she still had feelings for him, so it’s never really settled. I hope the girl soon learn the fact and move on.

Pidapipo September 5, 2019 4:56 am

Oh.... quite intriguing. Though I’m not sure if I can follow the rest, story telling is a bit off and the characters feels detached. It strongly reminds me of xxxHolic, from the opening, the concept, the “one chapter one story” format.

    idkidc September 6, 2019 2:33 pm

OMG SAME I THOUGHT OF XXXHOLIC WHEN READING THIS TOO ngl xxxholic was way better

Also I was listening to I Got You by HONNE while rereading the whole series (I do that whenever it updates, it gets better with every reread, srsly). You might want to check the song out, it pairs surprisingly well with the manga!
