an absolutely stunning piece of work. it's so excellent. sad this is a niche pick cause the illiterate incels on here pussy out at the first sign of gore and body horror, even when these elements are meant to be incorporated into the narrative and goes far beyond mere shock value and titillating torture porn, unlike the fuckass rapey abusive fetish bullshit they read and gaslight themselves into thinking as being more "okay" #lol.
really really loved watching m's descent into madness and obssession, oscillating between love and hate. it was such a thrilling experience seeing how far he'd go, all for the sake of his goal, in such single-minded intensity; it kept me on the edge of my seat every chapter. i thought it was poetic that in m's pursuit for greatness to become more and more demonlike and less and less humanlike, in the end, getting the closest to becoming the greatest and most ideal demon will leave you in the most painfully human state of all. m is doomed to walk the same trail that j left behind, and now they and their successors are probably gonna be stuck in a cycle, dancing the same tango of love and hate, obsession and loneliness. eat and be eaten - something something cannibalism as an allegory for gay love #eatingthatshitup
on a lighter note, im happy that d and s's story had a happy end to it... ill take any win i can in this story. thoughts and prayers to k for being stuck in unrequited love hell forever now ig, though depending on how you look at it that might be better than being stuck in "i let my obsessive hate slash love finetune myself into becoming the greatest demon of all for my master yet he used that to die in my face anyway" hell. #rip
also f and m... i know they be terrorizing the FAWRK outta demon society, the menaces.

kyouko and midori are actually soo cute, kyouko especially like aww. i also like her sibling relationship with miyako. baba meanwhile can just go baba-bust his fucking balls bro he needa go die i can't stand having him around knowing what he did to midori like MOVEEE
anw the treatment of baba here really just reflects like... how normalized that absolutely god awful ingrained casual japanese misogyny and cheating culture really is huh, to the point that i can't even escape it from my yuri... gross!

wow. WOW. did not expect this story to be this excellently written and to bang SO hard when i just randomly picked up it up a couple of hours ago.
this story gave me sooo much to chew on and i have sooo many thoughts circling back and forth like i have a microwave implanted in my brain and i Tried writing it down but it was. so Hard trying to keep everything coherent so im just gonna list a bunch of things i like about this story in a lightning round and in no particular order:
1. jinhyung's writing. arguably best component of the story. i like that he's respectfully and unabashedly written as both flawed and a victim of abuse. his shortcomings were borne from and act as a coping mechanism as a result of the abuse he faced and it festers and keeps him trapped in an ugly cycle of harm he perpetuates unto himself and others because it's easier for him, because he's too scared to be vulnerable, because he thinks he doesn't deserve to get better. and i like seeing the journey of his growth from this point and seeing how the narrative doesn't try babying him and justifying his actions and words when he hurts someone else as a result of his trauma.
2. uyun. cutie pie, jinhyung is def lucky to have him cause uyun is too sweet on him sometimes. perfect foil to jinhyung and perfectly supplements jinhyung's story while being a great and loveable character in his own right. docking like .5 points still cause i really wanted to see uyun's hole get stuffed </3 maybe in another life, or if the author is ever possessed to write a eunoh x uyun or a switch au.
3. eunoh. hilarious guy. i like that he's so unapologetically horny bisexual but it gets uncomfortable when he does toe and cross the line with the groping/touching. also wished that in another life i could've seen him be uyun and jinhyung's third and they form a polycule and sandwich uyun.
3. the whole arc with cheongah. bar for writing women in bl is underground in HELL so i always appreciate when i come across writing that isn't just women exes/friends = evil/bitchy/decorations. i like that the narrative drives home the point that jinhyung was in the wrong in the way he reacted and hurt cheongah, and that cheongah was still afforded compassion, empathy, and nuance in her writing as his ex. still think she was too accepting in the aftermath and that she should've slapped jinhyung or dumped coffee on his ass as a treat <3 uyun was allowed to damn near cripple his dick n balls after all.
4. ayeon. queenie. need more of her in the story STAT. need a yuri spinoff starring her actually. i love how mean she can get <3
5. the whole arc with songrik. 10/10 backstory and characters, absolutely no notes on the writing, amazing execution. really liked that the arc decided to have their relationship end in a farewell, glad to see that songrik could see how toxic their friendship had gotten and that there were too many festering open wounds between them that they caused each other even though they mean so much to each other. they were unhealthily co-dependent at some point as well. at that point of their reunion-cum-farewell, songrik was still in the midst of his recovery process wheras jinhyung hasn't even begun it yet. i think though bittersweet, it was ultimately a more healthier option that songrik chose to prioritize himself and his recovery above all, and that he was able to graciously encourage jinhyung to do the same, and that jinhyung was also able to see and accept why. even if they had to part ways at that point, it doesn't change the fact that they left such a profound impact on each other's lives and that they're both open more so to running into each other over seeking each out at a more healthier point in their future. also i'm happy songrik can get closure with his mom.
6. love the lil art of jinhyung & uyun's room at the end of near every chapter with them together <3 it really helps ground them in a way, weirdly enough.
7. the realistic tackling of actual adult life issues, esp when it comes to work and life and trauma. its so realistic sometimes that it flat out makes me uncomfortable in the hits too close to home and forces me to confront my own issues and shortcomings way, especially when i see myself reflected back not just in the good but also the bad in jinhyung and the narrative makes a point to illustrate how the bad isn't just bad because it harms others, it's also bad because it ultimately harms yourself and keeps you in a cycle of harming yourself </3
anw, that's about it off the top of my head i guess. now i gotta wait to marinate this until it's finished, which means i gotta go back to scouring through stupid bl slop to find something that can even touch just a hundredth of this story's heart and writing </3 it's gonna feel like the equivalent of playing genshin impact right after finishing disco elysium, and im NOT looking forward to it. #genshinimpactstrayalwaysdeserved
whoa, wasn't expecting this to have a new volume considering it all already felt wrapped up pretty nicely in the 2nd volume. absolutely not complaining though!
but enough about that. you know what's actually really questionable????? the fact that in japan??? GPs just... aren't a common thing??????? they're not commom specialties and it's implied to be a career path that's looked down on since shuji said it'd be hard to gain recognitiom for it... crazy. that's such an insane thing for me to wrap my head around. like you're telling me in japan if you have a mysterious illness with overlapping symptoms of various known illnesses and you don't know the cause of, the most common way to deal with it is that YOU'RE the one that has to make the judgement call on what type of specialist doctor you should see to help you with this without the opinion of a professional or expert weighing in??? and the specialist you're seeing trusts YOUR judgement, an uninformed person, to prescribe and carry out a treatment that may or may not address the underlying cause of the illness and work for you???? CRAZY.
also sidenote, pleasantly surprised seeing the faux choking scene - such a nice and far, FAR safer alternative to erotic asphyxiation, even compared to the methods of oxygen deprivation strangulation and blood choking that people believe are the "safer" methods. there will never not be risk of injury/damage when it comes to choking someone after all, so it's nice to see actual safe alternatives to it being shown in media - i'd love to see more stuff like this being explored, where couples get creative in the way they try to emulate and get the closest to bdsm experiences as they can as safely as possible.
i meant to like i definitely agree
Yeah, tje common practice in my contry to go the general therapist and after his conclusion to other doctors, it's standart protocol, so I'm surprised as hell
