My bad ! "Sadism" is from Marquis de Sade, and "masochism" from Leopold Von S.M. I got confused becaused thanks the book, studies were led with more seriousness about those kinks, and the term "sadomasochism" was born along that. Thank you correcting me ! I was too sleepy to think about Sade when writing my comment, but I actually did try reading "The 120 Days of Sodom" a few months ago. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever read and I had to stop after a few pages. The amount of sexual atrocities the characters did to children and innocent people... truly traumatizing. It was the original version and reading this shit in my mother language made it even more painful for some reason. Anyway, thanks again, and good job on never reading Sade, I wish I didn't ╥﹏╥

man somehow im still curious about 120 days of sodom. maybe ill find a summary or something. i imagine sade’s works dance between sexual and clinical sadism (or ig sadism broadly), whereas sacher-masoch’s is primarily sexual? no idea

120 Days of Sodom is about pure cruelty and corrupting the living with any way possible. Every disgusting character is a sex addict that enjoys running innocent ones with all their power, and almost all of them have a huge preference for virgins and kids. It's absolutely disgusting how things are described, you can actually picture the nasty old men and their dirty bodies, doing what they do. So, very sadistic and sexual in the worst way.

Venus in furs is more about a love story of a guy and the woman that embodies his kinks in the most perfect way, but she's not comfortable with sm stuff until she puts her all into it. They're torn between living as lovers or a mistress and her slave. They don't believe in choosing both, and they go to crazy extents to satisfy each other's needs, even doing things they absolutely hate. It's a pretty toxic relationship with dangerous games, but they're genuine. It's raw love mixed with obsession, with a lot of communication before they start the slavery stuff. The interesting thing is, you don't know when they're having sex, it's more described as intimate and loving moments, with lots of kisses. I haven't finished reading it yet but I'm really surprised by the absence of sex scenes when everything is so erotic

i think both sound pretty raw and unhealthy, its just that sade’s work crosses many ethical and moral lines. god thinking about it makes my head ache, genuinely it sounds like a weapon of oppression and exerting power more than a path to eroticism. eugh

I've only read the first chapters of Sadistic Beauty a long time ago and couldn't stand the girl. But I've read Sadistic Beauty: Side Story and it was pretty hot, since then, I've been wanting to give the main story a second chance cause I'm a sucker stories filled with passion and hotties and apparently the author can do it...
My main problem is, I need a serious dom to enjoy a bdsm story and the girl was too carefree right from the start. Now, thanks to you, I might start reading it asap because I need to find more stuff to (un)leash the sub in me -lol sorry for the bad joke- and I'm curious to see those scenes ! It's hard to ignore the blackmail and bs the characters do, I love rules and safety measures or even just a bit of awareness, but if I consider it part of a play, I might be able to read it without going crazy from the frustration... I'll try it for the smut lol ! X)

i havent reread sadistic beauty in years cuz i prefer to maintain my fun memories of it at the time, but yeah i agree abt the serious dom thing. i had a similar issue with s flowers, i wasn’t totally down with how careless? and distant the mcs were. not to mention all the blackmail or manipulation that happens in these stories. i guess it’s a common trope, like how a lot of yaoi has their own dynamics and toxic behaviors that are fairly common.
that being said, i dont mind a dom whos like… unsure, or learning. cuz thats lichrally me! i usually prefer it even, helps me feel less alien lolol. for me, the ones who are more committed to the dynamic/relationship are more interesting than the ones that are more… carefree. i am incapable of the carefree attitude :P

i do sometimes consider rereading but well ive simultaneously built it up in my head to be an integral part of my shift to femdom interest, while also being kinda poopie as far as consent and well-defined and/or healthy relationships. i think if its taken as part of an overarching act like you said, or its read knowing the characters are very flawed, it may be a better experience for me… anyway! i stand by the smut though teehee, usually its the redeeming quality in these popular femdom webtoons. i hope youre able to find some subby joy in it!

S Flowers started pretty well but it got so messy that I didn't even read the end, although I've bought a pretty big amount of chapters. It didn't feel genuine nor exciting anymore...
Anyway, you see it the same way I do ! Experience can't be acquired overnight, so being committed from the start is the most important ! I actually like the "let's learn together" trope, it's pretty fun and exciting. But I also love when one is an expert and the other one a newbie, it gets my blood boiling.
As for Sadistic Beauty, I've read around 15 chapters yesterday and it was actually pretty good. I can tell things will get really ugly and forceful with the second guy but for now, the first guy led to some pretty nice scenes, he and I have similar tastes, and they care about each other. So I'm glad I gave it a second chance, thanks to our little talk ^^

Personally, I fully realized my interest for all of that while reading the bl From Points Of Three. It's a mix of almost everything I love, it left a big impression on me and I regularly go back to my favorite chapters. Even though there is a significant amount of well planned gaslighting... the mood and plays are just too good, the environment is perfect and they're 3 people !

i could see the mess coming a mile away in s flowers and didnt want to deal with that spending money on webtoons is such an on/off thing for me, cuz sometimes its not even worth it. but sometimes i get early access to chapters? and support the author/the scanlation team? sigh…
