The weird thing is...in the earlier chapters she had already explained why he didn't accept his previous marriage proposals.
He doesn't want his wife to love him when his job requires him to go to war. Leaving a wife behind with the possibility of dying was why he avoided relationships. Apparently this was the reason but with the way the author is going.... i think a whole new backstory is going to be invented now.

the idea that he didn't want to get married bc of the war thing reflects his kindhearted nature, but I think it might have to do with something more emotional now that I've pondered over it for a bit. because he could have gotten a political marriage, seeing as how he was quick to accept Ivonas proposal even though it's basically the same gist. and as such a high ranking noble he has to have an heir for the dukedom. marriage and kids are like essential, especially in this time period. it's probably why people assumed he was sterile.
I think he's emotionally closed off probably from his parents or something. I'd really like to see how the story develops and why he was fine with marrying Ivona and not the others who've probably proposed. (tho its probably bc she was a bad ass and needed help to get out of her previous engagement and such)

(anything more than 5- MAX 6 and I fucking bounce) but the story would literally not change AT ALL if they aged him down. like not in any fucking way.
people don't understand the issue with age gaps (even if the person is legal in whatever country) is the difference in maturity, not the age gap itself. like a 17 and 27-year-old have a draaaasssttticcc gap in maturity. that's why it's not as weird when its, let's say, a 25 and 35-year-old. like yea, it's still a 10 year age difference but the gap in maturity lessens so mf much as you age.
im sorry to say, but everything about this is trash. the characters are unlikeable, the plot is poorly written and confusing, the character dynamics are shit, and the pacing is all off. it's not the worst I've ever seen but it's fucking up there and I've seen some absolutely STUPID stupid ass shit.
also, not even to be funny or anything at all, but this entire dilemma could be solved with a fucking strap-on of all things

also, the first of the supporting male leads is a massive cunt. I really can't fathom how someone could have the audacity to pull such a stunt. the last of his brain cells must have traveled down south to his second brain. I already don't like the green-haired bitch because I have a prejudice against them (im looking at you Allen from abandoned empress) and her brother also seems like a twat, but I might be wrong. I want the werewolf to be likable and nice, I dunno why tho
