why Kaede is with Asuza, and you always feel it a bit, is psychological. And Kaedes trauma and thus his overly huge guilty conscience is never off when he is with Asuza. Sure, you can grow love for someone, by continuing to act in a way you act towards loved ones. Kaede was an alright guy and the fated pair thing may be a bit hmm cause it is like a force of insticts, but still, they matched well. Sure Kaede and Asuza look cute on the superficial, but it can never completely cover the underlying darkness of their partnership. With the fated pair Kaede would be "light". With Asuza he always feels "heavy".

Beware of the Villainess kinda fits for your needs, Melissa is such an epic strong woman. Maybe try Ebony or A Lady's Law of Survival, their revenge plot is amazing. In Ebony, the kingdom that the MC has to suffer in is a huge pit for mysogynistic bastards. Everytime I read it i just feel like setting fire on the whole place, but I assure you it's a great read with wonderful characters. Same for A Lady's Law of Survival, MC shows her asshole of a fiance who tf is boss and who can use the blade better.
