ah,, i get it,, like it’s traumatic being a sexual assault survivor and ah yeon was also a public figure so if the real perpetrator is in a position of authority say like a company president then it would be really terrifying to go out and make a statement. and if the weapon/evidence that our boy seungmin has is video evidence or a voice recording but of which contains sensitive stuff like ahyeon groaning in pain etc then... i really admire seungmin for not disrespecting ahyeon’s wishes
ok idk but

no this is exactly right !! The incident itself was probably very terrible for her, but all the attention afterwards most likely made it a lot harder. I believe seungmin said before in earlier chapters that he doesn’t want to bring her anymore trouble, so I think either of them making a statement could really bring back some traumatic things that can hurt ahyeon again like you said :((

@kokidoki exactly!! the corporate media aren’t truth seekers, they’re gold diggers. then, in the past, when fabricated evidence came out of seungmin being the perpetrator, they went after him hence directing most if not all of the attention on him.
if ah yeon makes a statement then... all the attention would be directed on her. seungmin thus is sacrificing himself as a delectable corpse to the media to shield her

this was a really really wonderful story. the way they approached bisexuality, coming out, consent, and the consequences (trauma) of being/encountering a homophobic environment... great. it felt like this was directed to queer people by a queer person, or at least an ally that has read up and talked with extensively to their queer friends. i did like how them being cousins made a slightly more complicated relationship though it was strange because the incest being a plot device for conflict/as an obstacle wasn’t even emphasised that much nor did it really matter in the long run. we can take it, of course, as something that just doesn’t mean that much though.
so that aspect felt a bit strange because certainly, you can do without incest? not that i have any qualms with reading/consuming works that feature incest but i suppose this is another one of those contemplations on love things?
the homoerotic tension is insane
