this is such a masterpiece, there’s nothing else like this

as much as the saint girl is annoying, she’s very young. imagine from a dull world of routine, going to school and repeat, you’re suddenly the saviour of a whole land. you won’t only get an inflation of your ego however unconscious it may be but suddenly your life has this upturn in value; you’re singlehandedly responsible for saving innumerable lives. you won’t only feel obligated but there’s also an accompaniment of underlying guilt and fear because of this task. especially for a teenager who doesn’t really know of the adult world—that is to say she’s still quite insulated, she doesn’t know of manipulation, politics, hierarchical power in a workplace setting—she’s still green and is privy to a lot of pushing around by the people that have welcomed and exalted her. she’s thrust into a life where people know her value but she doesn’t necessarily have the smarts to protect herself and knows what best to do. mistaking kindness as inherent and not because to get into her good graces

also, she’s incredibly lonely due to this. people are idolising her no matter what.

i… really really liked this. the story didn’t abstain from acknowledging and carrying through the consequences for shittiness, much is open-ended especially regarding the twins’ parents (we don’t know whether eunsang really forgave them as crying at this incredibly hard won apology is, well, to be expected) and june (because he didnt forgive eunsang per se he just resolved to get along with him /for eunho’s sake/ which is realistic and not cut and dry, it is a personal choice as to how you go forward in a relationship with your tormentors especially since in this case it’s out of love for a third party). this should really come first but i also loved the wake up calls: eunha is naturally empathetic and yet he didn’t cower and give eunsang a sanitised version, he had the decency and respect to—because of recognising eunsang’s hardships—confront eunsang straight out that he should stop using a bad past as an excuse to lighten his wrongs. ultimately eunha did that so as to allow eunsang the opening for growth, i believe subconsciously he couldn’t like eunsang shy away from hard truths to prevent getting better. and! and! i really love the parents actually looking within themselves to have the courage and humanity to say what we did was incredibly traumatising and unworthy!! it’s so rare to see abusive parental figures learning and this was a breath of (needed) fresh air. the father’s reaction was also expected and organic; with such violence enacted on his child he wont come to terms so fast, but he said he would reflect upon it signifying change in the future.

you know ultimately eunsang is wrong, incredibly awful for what he has did and there is no changes that can be done for the past. abuse (physical abuse and neglect) as well as the burden of poverty (having to fend for himself/make an own income without having parental help) plus not able to be vulnerable with anyone is an explanation for his actions but it isn’t an excuse. however we have to think how that factors into impacting him as a vulnerable child. some people won’t forgive him and that’s okay, but i like that the story gives him the capacity for change and shows that people can change. and that needs support networks, he needed his brother and now his new boyfriend for it. he has a lot to work on and some things aren’t reparable but fuck yes do i believe that traumatised kids who lashed out with anger and hurt have the capacity to grow.

we love mutual love and respect and it’s so organic! it fits in with both of their personalities and even though there isn’t like waterworks and dramatic declarations their love for each other is so apparent in every thoughtful action and every stare it makes me so giddy. they show people that being a couple is not to complete yourself or to “find your other self” but to enhance each other’s strength. to love is to share yourself along with all your vulnerabilities.

i’m like i dont like how the whole team basically indulges shinje’s need to excessively control and manipulate yoogun and this still comes hand in hand with i don’t like how a whole organisation was in on torturing shinje probably all his life until he broke out. like i feel disgusted by the latter but also if the author thinks that disgust would make seeing yoogun suffer any less horrible than wooo boy. like shinje you are inflicting the exact same circumstances that you experienced on yoogun!!!

character: is deeply intensely traumatised, displays severe attachment issues & rejection sensitive dysphoria, emotional co-dependency on one person, impulsivity esp. with self sabotaging behaviour, difficulty controlling anger, shot through the roof emotional instability
ignorants: yandere

for the love of all things good in this world don’t fucking call him a yandere. the term/char acted trope is a romanticisation of bpd ffs it’s not just a term when it’s furthering stigmatisation.

what renders everything about this story so heartachingly beautiful is that everything is so tender, so caring. it shows us the range and the versatility that humans have, the beauty of humanity in a way. it’s first and foremost a story about adults navigating the burden and the joy of truly giving their all to love, or rather experiencing a love that truly encompasses what “to be so taken with someone” and “falling deeply into a bottomless pit” means. so, they’re learning what a relationship means, especially karlyle in his naïvety where his wholeheartedness and inexperience makes him rash but then now when he sees his trust truly treasured and reciprocated he bursts with open adoration. we have to note that a lot of the lines arent dialogue, arent spoken and yet. yet the looks conveyed so beatifically are so lovely, so downtrodden, overloaded with love that what’s said isn’t needed because it’s translated so vividly upon his face. and i just… love how ash‘s kindness gives me hope, that even before he fell for/when he is falling with karlyle he understands that emoting is not easy for people and sharing is not easy for some and that trust is hard to earn. especially with those with scars to show. so his warm coaxing and never rushing karlyle goes to show his patience which is kindness and understanding. everything for the both of them is hard won, yes, but it’s never undeserved. the two of them are shown from the very start to be people so deserving of love that we can’t help but cheer them on, encourage them and love them. also have to say that down to thw artwork, every background, effect, & detail exudes deliberate carefulness to enhance the beauty of the characters.

※ i ran out of gas like halfway through so it’s so much of a ramble with like 3000 unfinished ideas and points that it’s haywire but tldr DTR is a masterpiece and i love it to death

it’s so funny that these ppl think somehow being the bottom is a sort of tragedy like… it doesn’t take away your masculinity… why are you viewing it so negatively… unless you think topping equals domination equals power so you don’t really like sex you just like taking control over someone lol
and i mean in context dohyeok doesnt even look like he enjoys sex it’s just conquest for him so shrugs
