If done correctly no it doesn’t and I believe it’s actually rooted from a type of check up done by doctors. On the other hand if done incorrectly there’s a bunch of health problems coming ur way

yes there is a pendant that doctors use for example for medical checkups regarding ED and stuff. If you do it incorrectly tho you can hurt the urethra and damage it leading to infections and worse. This is also why you should thoroughly clean both the catheter and your hands as well as wearing gloves while inserting it (this webtoon demonstrated it quite well). Also you should not move too abruptly while inserting it as the catheter could then accidentally hurt the urethra. I'm not a man so I don't know if it would hurt or how it feels but I believe that there is some kind of similar device for women... but I'm not quite sure
I was asleep when mine was put in because I had my uterus taken out but it fucking hurt peeing afterward. My surgeon (off topic but she was amazing) prescribed medicine to dull the pain of peeing while the urethra to heal. I forgot to take it once and it felt like a hot knife was jabbing my pee hole (urethra as I just mentioned)
