Hi, I respect your point of view but I will have to disagree that it’s rape. Yes Yashiro made a comment to stop bc he feels like throwing up, but you fail to point out that in the following chapter he’s telling Doumeki to do it harder, to make it hurt. Doumeki tells Yashiro no he won’t do it ,and ask him to acknowledge that he’s still enjoying it, even without all that. What Yashiro is asking Doumeki to stop doing is being kind, to stop touching him in a tender way. Hes not used to having “nice” sex, or being touched with true passion or desire. The men he’s used to having sex w want to dominate him to make him submit to the pain they are giving him. The reason he felt “safe” with Doumeki’s impotence is bc then his come ons won’t work on him, no matter how “slutty” he acts, or how he provokes him, there’s no chance that he will reciprocate and treat him like a “human toilet”, bc to Yashiro there’s no other way to have sex. In other words, he doesn’t want “normal” or “ nice “ sex, bc he’s not used to it and doesn’t feel he deserves it, but he also doesn’t want Doumeki to become just another man to treat him like shit, bc he actually cares for him and what he thinks of him. That upsets him bc those thoughts never concerned him bf. The rough sex he’s used to is to cope like everyone is saying; think about it as him reclaiming his abuse. It’s as if he were saying ‘haha, you can’t hurt me, that’s the way I like it anyways’ and liking that nice sex with Doumeki shatters that defense, exposing his true feelings and pain. That he doesn’t like it, it hurts like hell, it always hurt him and what happened to him as a child beyond sucked(for lack of better words) and scarred him deeply. I hope to made sense and perhaps made you want to go back a re-read it and look at it from a different perspective. To just reduce it to “it’s rape”, you lose out on this great manga with complex and interesting characters. Just my two cents

I read a lot of yaoi, and for the most part tend to be pretty objective and impartial about the characters but I’ve never hated a seme, ever , like I detest Wangye. I read Painter of the Night, Palace of Bardot, Kiss me, liar but Wangye is by far the cruelest of them all. With those stories, I’m open minded to where the author will take them next but with Wangye I just can’t. If anyone has read the novel you know what I’m talking about. I know the manga is going to follow pretty closely and when it does , I can’t see how anyone will be satisfied with any so called character development. Yuer is the most innocent character ever, he’s like a baby on how defenseless he is, so it makes Wangye’s treatment even more cruel. I’m (reluctantly) reading this since I’m reading the novel and want to follow along, not to mention it is actually a good story, but it’s hard to enjoy at times.

Yea I heard about that ending also, and I still don’t get it. Nothing in the entire story led me to believe it was that kind of story. It was all drama/tragedy/love story with a bit of action with a yaoi twist. All of a sudden let’s sprinkle in some fantasy and a dash of omegaverse!? They cld have left it alone at “male empress”.

So the authors tweeted that both novels , Kiss me, liar and Kiss me if you can (Josh’s story) is being translated into English ebook. It will be on a new site called https://wordexcerpt.com/, that will be a Lezhin of sorts, but focusing primarily on Korean novels. Launch date soon.

I get what everyone is saying that it’s bf they were together, etc etc. and I agree with everyone’s points. But to me it just feels like it was unnecessary to inject the mini drama and negative feelings at this point of the story. They are already together, taking a trip even, and it’s Hagiwara’s first date to boot, so doing that scene kinda felt blah. I wld have liked it better, that him being w other ppl came to light, a chapter bf. Nonetheless, very sexy, a good read 10/10

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything less from SH, and no shade on anyone but I truly didn’t see any of this supposed character development he was apparently having. It’s a low bar if not raping or intimidating Nakyum for a few chapters is considered development; even when he wasn’t being violent or aggressive, he was still being a dick, talking down to him (don’t forget, Nakyum is still his captive). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the story and SH is foine, but he’s also violent and jacked up in the head, and sometimes it be like that. Not all stories are gonna walk down the path to a redeemable arc, in order to wrap it up nicely, and right now I don’t see how the author can possibly pull it off. On top of SH murdering, kidnapping, beating up, raping, and being all around unhinged, it’s also a period drama; even if she tries to sweep all that under the rug, how will a lord and a low born be happily together in the end? I think I enjoy the manga bc I don’t have expectations of some miracle happy development and just take it as it’s been presented thus far: dark, violent , sad. If I were to be disappointed in a non-development, it would have to be Nakyums. 62 chapters later, and he’s still allowing the world to take a shit on him. I think he’s cried in literally every chapter he’s been in. So if you combine all of those things I mentioned bf, I’m actually bored with the story. It was so exciting at first, yet here we still are, repeating the same shit every few chapters. I’m confused on why the author is confused as to why fans didn’t enjoy the chapter. We all love smexy, but this chapter wasn’t it.

Hello, I’ve read a few times in the comments that the scenes going back and forth from present to past gets a bit confusing. I just finished reading this again, and from my observation and guess, is that the past memories , the dialogue is in a “black bubble” vs in the present, when they are speaking, the dialogue is in a “white bubble”.
Also, him throwing the little boy is to no surprise, since he choked the boy in chapter11-12 over some strands of greasy hair. And that was before he was even “woke”.
I wanted to say you all did a fantastic job; I kept thinking I was reading an official English translation. The cleaning was so good and the translation was great. Thanks so much for your hard work, I appreciate you.
