Finally someone who understands their dynamics. IMO they both know their relationship is toxic but like what you said, all those sacrifices will feel worthless that's why they're procrastinating. It's as if they're waiting who will raise the white flag first. I've seen many toxic relationships like this and it's always easy for us outsiders to say "omg just break up!!" but it's easier said than done. I love how realistic the author portrayed this.
