I get that he didn't want to start a family at that point in his life, but it happened so he needed to step up. He did try to some degree to be a father, but he wasn't a very good one. Not even close. He prioritised other people over his own son and made no effort to see things through Jesse's perspective. He's just all "woe is me. I don't deserve any of this..." Yeah Joel never asked for any of this, but neither did Jesse.
Personally I think Jesse has every right to be pissed and I was glad when he stood up for himself. Joel on the other hand. Calling Jesse his "enemy"? Claiming he shouldn't hate him? (Indicating that he does, but shouldn't) Fuck that guy. It shouldn't take a near death experience to make you value your child. I hope he at least tries to redeem himself though. Joel's still relatively young, so he still has a shot of maintaining and building his family.

I love his personality. Don't get me wrong, he's an evil manipulative asshole but this is one of the rare times I've read a manwha with the word "villain" in its title and the ML ACTUALLY turns out to be a villainous character. I love it because that's what I clicked on the story for and that's exactly what I'm getting. I just hope that his violent temper doesn't get directed towards Elzay at some point...

He is the possessive type, but personally it does seem like a possibility to me. He's suffered through a lot of trauma which would've messed with his mentality. He seems stable for the most part, but if something triggers him he'll have a chance of flipping out. Like I said though, I hope that doesn't happen and if it does, I hope Elzay isn't around to witness it.

With the way Joel is handling things, he's gonna lose a son. He's constantly prioritising Chase over Jesse and that's toxic asf in a father-son relationship. Joel and Chase can get together and act like a happily married couple if they want, honestly I don't care at this point. Good for them, I guess.
