They both BEEN in love since highschool but Joowon felt GUILTY at the time so he pretended not to like Haesoo and even told him to not have feelings for him (after it was way too late) so Haesoo thought that he was telling him that because he didn't like him thus an UNREQUITED LOVE so he kinda held a grudge this whole time because of it. Which eventually lead to the shape of their toxic relationship at the beginning of the manhwa.
It was after Joowon felt that Haesoo was going to be taken away from his side that the readers were let in on the fact that Joowon loved Haesoo all this time and his whole life basically revolves around him.
