Rae couldn’t have stabbed vivian in the back with a long sword especially with her physique and that vivian is in front of rae, vivian would have expected the attack and retaliated, if ya wanted to frame her for it use a dagger and target that area especially since she fell forward and in her arms
Also assuming ya still gonna use a long sword stab her in the stomach or chest, so that if blood spills it could fall on the attacker or somewhere near them and if ya skilled enough use the areas where the blood drips as evidence that u didn’t do it

It's because he pities her and feel a connection with her. He knows she is doing bad things, but is in huge denial. He doesn't really love her. However it doesn't really last long, later on he pretty much comes to terms with her being the biggest piece of shit and stops helping her in anyway.
