Hmmm.. It was because Kaido was hiding things from Honda, because Kaido doesn't want Honda to worry -> it though.
Always saying "It's Okay," "I'm Fine," "There's nothing to worry about," even tho Honda can clearly see something is wrong with Kaido, that's where it all started.
It's the senpai from Kaido's work that sorta stalk him to have anything to blackmail him with. And they photographed the both of them together and the official version it's that they are friend. So to protect Honda, Kaido stood out to say that they're only friends but he got beat up (I presume).
