holy fuck this was amazing, despite the shitty translation. and the twist at the end was awesome. the side stories were fucking awful. i hope this gets an official sometime

this story is fine, but why do they talk like a bunch of im14andthisisdeep philosophers
like the situation often doesn't even feel that serious to get that shakespearean

also imo the story would have been better if they didn't jump into love stage in the desert but had ambiguity until the city arc
then it would have made their reunion more meaningful
guess that's what you get when you write two adult characters who can actually think for themselves ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)
(ps unpopular opinion but i actually agreed a little with the initial group that scanlated it, the desert arc pacing was a mess, but unlike them I wanted to see how it ends so)

I'm at chapter 58 and idk. this whole series just feels like a torture fest for Lau. The story and the culprit is made obvious to the readers from the start, and we are taken along, having been fed with the entire context, as we see Lau get so close to the truth only to make a u-turn. I love Lau. He is a misunderstood soul, like a walnut. Everyone knows everything, but he is sent on a wild goose chase for some reason. Every time the readers are shown Lau's perspective, you can tell he is an extremely troubled soul, and his inner turmoil is explained in great detail, almost hurt to read because it felt too close to home. All I want is for Lau to be happy, but I'm scared he'll be mind-broken by the end of the series.

I agree w u but wth does “he’s a misunderstood soul like a walnut” mean is that a common saying or smth. Also I slightly disagree that it was obvious from the start but it is a bit more complex than everyone just torturing Lau. Xin has his reasons as ull see in a bit. I just want Lau and Xin to be happy vro

not a common saying, something i thought up on the spot, what i meant by that he has a tough exterior but is fragile on the inside

also i don't disagree, the character complexities are very well written. i like xin, a lot, and of course he has reasons as implied in so many flashbacks, but it doesn't change the fact that his actions hurt Lau over and over again. that will never change

Oh yeah I completely agree w u ig I just misinterpreted ur comment. Xin has his own reasons and it feels like whatever he does to Lau is to ultimately help Lau, but he fails to take into account what kind of person Lau is and just how badly he’s been traumatized. So his plans to help Lau always end up backfiring by just making Lau feel used and trivialized more and more… just hurting Lau (and xin) in the long run. Also Xin sorta seems to have matured into the type of person who does things for the greater good, so it feels like he sorta weighs how badly people will be hurt and plans based off of that. My current theory is that this whole tattoo debacle was orchestrated at least in part by Xin to end up saving everyone in the long run but imo he completely disregards all of the ppl hurt for his plan to work (Chen, Lau, Mali, even himself to some extent). Poor Lau though he looks shellshocked :( I have no idea how he’s going to react to his new “freedom” but I can’t imagine it’ll be positive. I have faith that the ending will be a happy one but I really hope the author makes it so Xin at least apologizes and explains his actions to Lau. I don’t want Lau to still feel used and abused by the time the ending rolls around :(
