That's exactly why I expected drama to pop up and him having a 'hey, having just one lover is better!' character developement arc. But I'm glad it wasn't the case.
It's not a trope btw, it's part of the culture tho I'm not sure about Luca's tribe in specific. But from what I know there are many men (not women) in certain african tribes that have multiple wives. So I suppose he has the upbringing of being poly and hence mentioned it? At least that's the only idea I have tho they still didn't exactly HAVE TO mentioned it in specific. Tho it did create a bit of angst or whatever for a short time, so it kinda makes sense.
But it could be that he was poly for real and we just don't have any chapter to fully make it clear since he's so in love with Makoto.

Not necessarily. It may be different as a standalone thing, but not in the mind of the person with the upbringing.
Many things we are brought up with are things we assume are natural to us as a person without giving it a second thought, because it's inherently turned into a part of us one way or another due to our upbringing and environment.
Racism or homophobia for example can work that way, but also sexuality related things such as thinking having multiple partners is normal. (Children take anything the adults teach them and manifest it as their own unless they start thinking about it for themselves or have a certain experience with it that changes their view on those things.)
Tho there are many other examples too, like in horsemanship where people don't think twice about their riding methods and how harmful it actually is to the horse (whips, spurs, yanking on bits, etc.).

So yeah, while it IS indeed different each by it's own, growing up with that environment can easily make you think it is a part of you as it's the 'base setting' you have for that specific thing (which may be the case or maybe not if you later notice you have different dispositions).

I think it's not that, more like the author did their research seriously and wanted to include that. Just like how they showed that people from their tribe have smartphones, pets, drove cars, etc and didn't portrayed them is "savages" that gets shock by the mere sight of tv like some of the manga here plus being polyamorous doesn't mean you HAVE to have multiple partners. One of the main things about polygamy is the consent from their partner, it's just cheating if the other one isn't fine with you being with other people and Luca knows that. A lot of polyamorous people are in a monogamous relationship for the same reason
