Fair warning this could be a long rant....
The female lead is interesting but her character has a few gaps... her common sense aligns with the common folk way of thinking so that makes her relatable but she also has a very bystander/detached attitude about the things around her. I get that she likes to keep busy by doing menial things but she is just neglecting almost all of her aristocratic duties. She doesn't manage the state of affairs of the household nor does she maintain relations with other noble families. She likes reading but never seems to actually put that knowledge into practice. She acts more like a housewife (which is cute) than a head figure of a Ducal house. I feel like the butler is doing most of the work here. And I really wish she would be more self aware.
Now the male lead is peculiar in his own right. Overall he's a bit selfish and his head is full of flowers. He fell for a woman that ignored him (narcissistic complex) and after a while was quite obviously using him to obtain luxuries. He was so used to being fawned over all the time by the women around him that he never shows any interest unless the other party ignores him. He neglects his household duties and all wise council. And I feel like the only reason her grew an interest in the fl was because she was blatantly not romantically interested in him. And once he gets an idea in his head he runs with it and ignores any narrative that is not his own. Unlike the FL he could be a little less concerned with himself.
The only reason she doesnt do any of duchesses work is because that was literally the thing she asked not to do in the beginning of the relationship she also pretty much has stated shes not much of a conversationalist. Like severally awkward when it comes to talking to other people (mainly the high class) and that's cause shes acted like normal person most of her life and she knows most of high society woman dont do things she does in fact majority of them would think of it as disgusting or beneath them to do such tasks. Which is why vee was so shocked to learn that mil did gardening because that's not something normal among high society women they would just have a servant do it for them.
Forgot to add. Which is why vee cant really progress or keep a conversation going because she really doesnt know what these woman talk about plus she cant talk about what shes into because again most of them would talk shit about her which isn't good because she also promised the Duke she would play the role of perfect wife.
I get that but still.... can we at least agree that she needs to be more aware of her natural beauty and stop calling herself a plain jane.

I don't get why everyone thinks that she is leading them on or that she HAS to pick one of them. It's her life and her feelings, just because they have feelings for her does not mean she is obligated to reciprocate. It's like if some random person told you they like you so have to go out with them regardless of how you feel. I just want her to be happy living her life without bending over for someone else.
But what's with all the pompous assholes left and right? They think they're all that but when they get called out on it they just run their mouths. The only jerk that matured in this whole series is Mu Bai who was his first rival. And even his lackey was at least amusing.
His mischievous grin every time he pulls a new stunt makes me swoon!!
