That's... actually really selfish of her.
She KNOWS how the emperor reacts to her.
What does she think he'll do if she asks for music???
Imagine blindly ignoring the fact that actions have consequences.
Obviously, the emperor is in the wrong for plucking his eyes out. At the end of the day, his actions are his own.
But she KNOWS him.
I have no doubt he has done similar things in the past.
I do not blame her for wishing for music.
I do not blame her for wanting a reprieve to her no doubt horrible life.
What I blame her for, though, is involving an innocent who obviously hasn't had it easy in life either.
In those times, commoners didn't live as well as commoners today. Its miserable for those without power. She at least was relatively comfortable (I'm not saying that makes it ok to make her go through what she's going through. But the pain she faces is different)
He is a good musician. His livelyhood could have depended directly from his eyesight (before you come at me, no, I'm not saying blind people can't play instruments. I'm saying it's harder to. This is obviously a story tho, so I'm guessing he'll be relatively fine. As fine as one can be when their eyes are gouged out due to the thoughtless comment of a sheltered noble, anyway)
She could have asked for a musician on death row. Someone who would benefit from this after thinking it through.
Instead, she hears a melodie and decides "I want it", with no regards to how that one single thought can affect the whole life of someone else.
I don't care how severe your problems are. You do not involve an innocent in them.

Uhh did i skip one i feel so confused
