I think if you're familiar with the OG myth you might enjoy it or look forward to how they're taking it. I do get your point, so I'll just let you know that her infatuation doesn't last long enough. Eh, not everyone can enjoy it, the OG is supposed to be a tragedy to begin with, if you don't like sappy and toxic romance then that's it.

I just read it, and being familiar with the original myth just made me hate it more.

Author really took a girl who hated the idea of being with Apollo so much she decided to turn herself into a tree, into someone hopelessly in love with him who trembles at just the thought of touching him. And when the blasted arrow of hate finally pierces her, she still doesn't truly hate him. She makes a disgusted face later on but still fucks him all the same. Have some backbone?

I get that she's just a nymph and can't do much against a literal god king but still.

I honestly LOVE toxic romance. The other day I read a wonderfully written story where the male lead straight up kills the female lead. I cheered, it was great.

But I need it to be written well. Betrayal of dignity does it much better even if the latest chapters where she goes back to him is a slap in the face, but at least there's a semblance of plot and the characters are developed. This is just a girl who was dickmatized before even tasting it.

But when she finally does, she supposedly hates him, even though that emotion falls painfully short. Not to mention they're going to try some bullshit uno reverse in a "oh I always liked or even loved you somewhat but because of x y z reason I couldn't be with you, but the arrow actually helped me realize the truth and that's why I don't think I'm acting strange" bleh

Ohhh I LOVEEE betrayal of dignity it's so well written. I think it's cause at the very least the FL there actually HAD the resolve to hate(?) The ml that she fled from him... whereas here, it's the central plot but it's not even executed properly by her character. Like she blushes when he says something to her and when they fck... like??? Girlll at least show to us you HATE this man. Slap him, wring his neck, claw at his face, kick him. But no we are fed nothing... I was waiting for a push and pull type of thing between them but she gives in so EASILY ughhhh.. honestly the art saved this

I think if we were to put it in that time period's perspective, putting another woman's picture in a locket (even if it was a dead friend) would make it look like your gay. All of this considering that she doesn't bother with the marriage prospects that her family gives her.
