Sorry to tell you but based on my research you're gonna hate this. The author deliberately made Chance a bad guy, but for me it is the MC who is a real shit in this story.

Yes and the way he treats Chance in the current time line like shit. Like why would you treat your best friend like that. All MC's actions seems to be selfish, disguising it under the pretext that it is for Chance and Lucy's future but in the end he destroyed that future in the worst possible way.
