I knew this would happen, and saw this exact situation happening in my prior post on the 19th…it’s so sad to see how, even now, the mother didn’t apologize. She just made excuses (to make herself feel better). Instead of trying to understand Emilie, she just wanted our FL to comfort her and forgive her with no apologies or reparations. It’s sad to see just how many selfish people emelie has around her, and how she lost the only person (Ophelia) who TRULY loved and understood her. Emelie’s apathy toward life and the people around her (and her circumstances) is a testament to her own grief. She’s really just going on With life because she promised Ophelia :( I’m SOOO glad and proud she stuck up for herself though and didn’t budge when the mom started crying. Go emelie, fighting!!

I really hope Ophelia’s parents (mainly her mom) don’t try to guilt Lia into making contact with them. The “otherness” she was made to feel as a child (see: “don’t call me mother…you will never be Ophelia”) will always be a part of her. While it was grief-driven on the part of the parents, it was still a large crack in our FL’s confidence and personality that will always haunt her and hang over her (as we can see in her dreams and speech). Also, while our FL may understand why they’re housing Elodie, due to their grief, she can’t forgive them because she feels they’re “forgetting” Ophelia and it is just another reason contact with the parents will ultimately hurt her :(
