Dunno how burning someone alive could be mercy

they’re trapped in an underground prison, being treated like livestock, and most likely malnourished and ab*used. He might’ve seen himself in them and with no other option of freeing them, he may have them to “set them free” so his mother can’t hurt them but idk just my opinion ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Yeah I get that, everyone seems to think that way. I just think that he could’ve at least tried to free them, or if anything, kill them in less painful way. Burning alive seems like one of the worst ways to go, and I’m sure no one thought Lirica going through it was a good way to go either

No I get what you’re saying, but if he frees them…what does he do with them after? He doesn’t have any ‘power’ of his own to protect them, nor anyone on his side. He can’t bring them to the palace because 1) we don’t know if he could teleport (?) them there and 2) it’s not enough to take down his mom + fam + their allies all at once. He’s got no resources. But, you’re right he could’ve done it a different way. it seems that was for the plot, prob to make it more devastating.

Tbh, giving them freedom would be good enough. But if he had to take responsibility further, then get them out of there? Maybe report this to emperor or Lirica, so she could tell the emperor? Honestly, I don’t think it would be a hard trope to make if the author wanted to

You’re right. But knowing that you’re the cause of someone’s tragedy, even if you had no idea that one day your characters would come to life, can still make you feel guilty. It is misplaced guilt, but it’s something a person can still feel

Right? He seems like just another greedy prick who will covet his daughter's power. Seeing his reaction, Dad was obviously correct bc why are u mad? Bc you didn't get to use her?

I know we can rationalize him to be an ass for yelling at Blake, but I think this is more understandable when you realize he probably isn't aware that being a Rotioum can be dangerous. The way Blake and the Gerwer Duke act, we can assume that their generation didn't know of any Rotioum, and as such the side effects were probably unknown too. Blake knows this can be risky for Riche because he saw the cause and effect himself; just like Deon also did. The two of them have a reason to stop Riche from using her powers, but since the Ice Duke guy doesn't know any of it, he doesn't see this as "protecting" Riche. He doesn't know she needs protecting. For him, specifically, this must have been more of a betrayal in a sense of "you knew the only person who could save every ducal family and you still kept it to yourself?"– not something about not being able to "use" Riche.

Iirc, too, the ice ducal family is known to be wary of using their powers and also scared of the early-death their "curse" can get them. So, honestly, I don't think it's fair to blame him. No one wants to die, and neither do they want their children to die; so if you just found out your friend has been keeping from you the one thing capable of saving you and your child? Not even trusting you enough to explain it at least? That would be sick. No one owes anyone an explanation or any kind of information, but a topic as sensitive as this can easily feel like betrayal.

Anyway, he's shown to be an understandable guy so far (I mean, he tried to stop that letter from getting to the Gerwer Duke didn't he?), so I think it's fair to give him a chance until Blake explains why he never revealed Riche's Rotioum status. It seems like he'd understand the situation.

Whether blue hair knows it hurts or not, he will know that being Rutioum will automatically mean that every ability user will be after Riche to use her and most wont care ab her comfort or wellbeing, so he should understand why Dad kept it a secret. The less people know the better. Feeling sad is one thing but being angry and yellling shows entitlement. Its up to Riche who she wants to know and who she wants to help so he has no right to be getting angry. No one wants to die, sure but someone dying doesnt mean you're entitled to your friends' every secret nor does it mean you should expect to use your friend's daughter. He can feel betrayed, thats fine but expressing it as anger is wrong.
