low-key the king is the reason why everyone’s so fucked up hear me out, if he was more clear on setting boundaries with the queen, then he could love margrave without the consequence of leading the queen on, and if she threw a fit, bam, easy divorce… but no he never made it clear he was never in love with her. and then the queen drowns in a jealous rage every single day and uses her connections to make up the margrave cheating scandal, causing cain to literally PRETEND TO BE DEAD TO RELINQUISH THE THRONE. the queen also emotionally abuses her son out of jealousy over cain just existing and cain has chess matches with the king and he tells him he’s way more talented than ernst all the damn time, making him resent his rightful position of crown prince be roped from him. “shockingly,” emotional abuse makes ernst a fucked up person, and then that affects mc and oh lord if the king just had a fucking spine mc’s life would be fine
oh my god, that was amazing and a great take on the revenge fantasy genre. i especially loved iora’s perspective and she started telling the story from her eyes, revealing she knew all along. this is one manga i’d love to see be turned into an anime
