hi so I've read the entire novel alr but I finished season 1 of the donghua but why is (spoilers)
ban yue's betrayal of her country justified? like did she not let all her companions die by letting the gates open so her friend could get a war victory? why did everyone seem to act as if what she did don't kill hundreds of not thousands of people bc rn I feel as tho ke mo has every right to kill her lmao

[spoiler kinda] in this world, i dont think the mass murders executed by the characters are to be described as "justified" i think it's more of "compensated" since the universe revolves around ghosts and gods, they don't use the humanities' justice system- specifically banyue, she is not really a psycho killer because she accepted the punishments and kinda controlled the situation to not have more victims *cough pei su* ... and i think the 'resentment' fueling banyue is her guilt for doing that betrayal and his respect for general hua [me thinks bc she is disappointed in herself that she became that person even tho huahua took care of her] plus it was wartime so the situation escalated alongside their output of the situation

it's probably just me but I feel like what qu Cheng is doing is v intrusive. wo wo is his boyfriend's child. and that's only what ci nian wants him to know. the child was birthed from a one night stand, it's amazing that he even kept it. and for qu Cheng, someone who only came into his life later on after his loved one dies and those he cared for betrays him. qu cheng is p much just his boyfriend, to take a damn hair and use your money power to conduct a legally dubious dna test is so incredibly overbearing. n o matter what his suspiciouns are, he has no right to question anything. you would think if your partner is uncomfortable with something you would STOP and respect them until they feel ready to tell u. yes qu cheng is his biological dad, but ci nian has many problems he wants to sort out on his own, including his insecurity abt the fact that he can give birth as a man. he has every right to keep this secret when he's the one that goes through the pain of birth, and struggles of raising a child as a single parent, along with his ptsd and trauma related to his family issues. what qu cheng is doing is out of line as someone who's supposed to respect and care for his lover.

I kind of see your point but this is my view: I don’t get why Nian is being this way in the first place. Nian is a selfish person if you ask me. If I have a child and that child’s dad loves me and my child I’m going to let him know that he is the father. He went through lengths to find Nian again and he has to put up with his stubbornness and his attitude alll the time. The LEAST he could do is tell him he’s the baby’s father.

He’s probably still traumatized by his father by being called “deformed” or mentally abuse. He probably has a fear of being rejected especially by his lover. He doesn’t want to be called abnormal. Although they have an amazing relationship. He was still traumatized as a child, so I don’t really blame him for not telling him the truth.

love is not some miraculous thing that prevents betrayal and heartbreak. when ci nian is surrounded all his life by relationships that end in doom, death, and an ultimately horrible ending for the one that loved too hard, who can blame him for putting his walls up. qu cheng is his boyfriend now, he treats him good now, but who can guarantee nian that he won't end up on the death bed alone and abandoned like his mother. wo wo is his child. if one day ci nian and qu cheng break up, and qu cheng gets violent, feels wronged somehow, and goes out for wowo. any situation really where wowos life would be in danger, bc qu cheng used his rights as the sperm donor to harm wowo with his money and influence, that ci nian DOESNT have. as his father, ci nian is doing everything he can to prevent the day where his child is put in harm because of his boyfriend.
bye this man really thinks he's just disgusted by women when in reality he a wholeass fruitcake and a half
