As much as the dad was an asshole, i can’t help but sympathize with his situation. Obviously what he did was wrong but judging his situation, it seems he just broke. One day everything was fine and suddenly it’s all gone just like that. By the looks of it he was an actor and probably an up and coming one. Of course any scandal involving an actor will be blown into exaggerated proportions, and that includes a mentally ill wife. All of that happening at once really takes a toll on anybody. Blaming his son was most likely the only way he could channel any grief and guilt he had. Doesn’t justify any of the shit he did but it does give a better explanation as to why. Hurt people, hurt people.
This was definitely one of the weirder ones lmao. But ngl, i did feel a little tinge in my chest when the dad said noone appreciated his books like his wife, because there always was someone that did. And then you just see the letter (or book review) from the mc like damn. I’ll try to be more appreciative and notice the little things like that from now on
