After reading the first six chapters I can say I'm confused. I enjoy this of course but wasn't he in love with Sol? Then that changed to the fact that he came back to find his first love and take revenge on Sol? Which of the two is the truth?

I think you got confused, the ML said he came to find his love and take revenge on fl, as she was interrupted his first confession TO HIS CLASSMATE , (not to the fl) into embarrassing part of his childhood,
His first love was an embarrassing memory that’s haunted him for years and given him nightmares, even after he moved abroad. Only reason he came back is to take "revenge" on Sol but he’s being attracted to her instead, an if you read the summary Sol will use him as her fake boyfriend to show off to her friends
Also no his first love was not Sol, but a girl of the same grade as him. He’s liked her for ‘x’ (5-6) years but at the time of his confession Sol interrupted and slapped his ass
