because the original story is only at chapter 16 and it's part of a webcomic compilations of bittersweet story together with other webcomic artists. But it became too popular that the author has to make it work. Honestly, I like if it ends at chapter 16 there and then. So, it's like if people want to read it for what it is then it's a story until chapter 16 and there's kinda an alternate ending for it so here goes side story.

I don't think alternate story is really the word here cause side 1 is literally the continuation of 16 which is supposed to be the end.. it's probably just the author giving in from the pressure rn

well, sorry for replying this late but you know it's part of a webcomic compilation series, right? And the theme is bittersweet stories, so it was created with that in mind and if people will only read that then it's gotta be a complete story, what comes after chapter16 is a choice and an alternate ending for somebody else, and alternate endings also need to align to og stories or it won't make sense anyways, who says, this can't be just an imagination? It's also a force circumstances so it's not really created naturally. I say the author def like the chapter 16 ending as well hence the continuation is not part of the main story. Afterall, why submit this webtoon to that compilation when it actually has it's own stand alone series further than ch16 and not bittersweet at all? Isn't that deceiving?

Lol, I think "bittersweet" is not even the word here.. the ending is just pure pain. I think I agree if you put it that way. I actually liked the original ending even if it was painful. The Side 1 continuation doesn’t just feel unnecessary, it kind of cheapens the original atleast for me. I get that it might be fan pressure, dats why I kinda feel a bit indeed betrayed..

Lol, ain't that the truth? Some people can't just accept some things as it is, they're lucky that the author cave in (afterall, it's a short story anyway) but I also cry reading this and feel painful, think about it for a while but I would still be glad that I'm able to read this work, just like every other work and that's it. I wouldn't go out of my way to change a story I genuinely enjoy anyways. So, I might use the "alternate ending" loosely, it's because it is what I think it is.
