Spoilers aside I’m going to react to what’s currently happening.
When Tess told him off I definitely rooted for her. Like go off sis tell him how his avoidance tactics hurt people because it’s not a healthy form of communication. all of you hating on her because she’s “annoying and clingy”, yeah I don’t see it. The amount of screen time she has is negligible.
And even then, she’s a kid who likes another kid. It’s pretty normal for kids her age to have crushes and in fact it’s normal for her to have talks of marriage at her age. I personally had a bf when I was 13– we were kids but we at least had an understanding of what relationships were like. And yeah I totally did stupid things in the name of getting my crush’s attention because hey— I was a dumb kid. She’s a much more mature kid than I ever was. It’s more than natural for her to want his attention and ya’ll are burning her at the stake for having the gall to have feelings and for showing them. She even apologized for kissing him without consent which almost never happens and shows some emotional maturity. But you still cry “HOW DARE ROMANCE BESMIRCH MY ACTION SHOUNEN MANHWA.” You say you prefer any other girl but let’s be real. You’d hate them too. It’s almost ridiculous. We’ve forgiven male leads for worse behaviors but the moment a girl is “clingy” she must be killed. Come on does no one else realize the (internalized) misogyny here?
I blame spoilers from the book. I know about them and I know roughly why people hate her. But you know what? I’ll hate her when the time comes and if she ACTUALLY deserves the hate. Because I don’t know how much of the spoiler has actually been lost in translation and watered down to make her almost villainous. I don’t know the actual lead up to the events that happened. I just know that they happened— but why? Not so much. And I’m not interested in more spoilers thanks. I want to enjoy the journey
Right now y’all are hating her just because she exists and not because of anything she’s actually done that is deserving of hate.

While I don’t care much for him, his POV makes a lot of sense. Sure he wasn’t happy that she married someone else but he eventually respected that and didn’t bother her again. But then he finds out she married a demon who, in all his experiences with demons, are bad people who kill and manipulate humans. You’d also think the marriage was a sham and maize was in danger. Obviously we know that’s not the case as the omniscient reader, but the characters don’t. So chill out a little.
We can hate on him later if he realizes that they’re truly in love and still wants to kill the demon king.

The problem I have with him is that he's just looking for excuses not to let her go. Remember just how much he actually knows. 1: They've been together for months and nothing happened, 2. Her status as demon Queen protects her, 3. The King became a pacifist specifically for her so she's clearly cherished.
If he thinks demons are all merciless killing machines then point 3 proves their love. I thought he was pretty reasonable until this chapter rolled out.

I’m not really going to keep defending him beyond this because I don’t particularly care that much lol. But I still believe he thinks this is all a trick. Like he said he believes she’ll be thrown away and used once the demon king is done with her. 1 could be the long game trick. 2 doesn’t make sense to them because why would it. 3 is basically another long game trick. Why? Who knows how demons work. They’re sneaky the lot of them. (Pretty sure that’s what humans think. We even saw Maize doused with holy water nonstop and they still couldn’t believe her. So it makes sense that none of this makes sense to them)
I’m ready to hop on the hate train if he ends up becoming “I know you’re peaceful and will love each other honestly. But I’m going to kill you anyway.”

I totally see where you're coming from. I'm just giving my own take on the situation. I can pretty much agree that the reasoning for everybody else is just demon = bad, but for me it feels a bit too much like he's trying to justify his obsession rather than objectively thinking about it. Different strokes for different folks?

period. And it doesn’t help when he doesn’t realize that Maize has already dealt with enough emotional baggage from him giving her a traumatic experience in their relationship. I mean he cheated on her with like what 3 people and a crowd of ladies??? Who wouldn’t be traumatized by that. He shouldn’t still expect to be accepted back just because he became a knight and all. It’s just obsession at this point because he expected that person who used to love him so much back then would stay the same even if he played around That’s why even if I can understand his point of view about demons =/= are bad just like how the general public in the story views it, it also means that him trying to “save” her is still translated to toxic obsession. Like bro that smile when he “found out” that Maize’s husband is a demon is a huge ass red flag. I would have understood his concern if he wasn’t so creepy about it.
Two powerful ladies teaming up let’s go!!! I AM LIVING
