In the beginning of the manga the date 11/28 was circled so I think that was the day kouichi came back and announced he was married. I think that's why it's so important! Hope this clears something up :)

Ughh im very happy to know that manga (and anime) like this exists. I really REALLY love this uugghh but i hope bossun and himeko ended up with each other ;__; I JUST NEED THEM CONFESSING TO EACH OTHER EVEN IF IT'S ONLY AN OVA OR A CHAPTER┗( T﹏T )┛ it also makes me sad knowing that this manga (and the anime) is so underrated. God i really love this, it's making me cry ╥﹏╥ i'm still hoping for the 2nd season (though i know it's already impossible, but still....)
