jokes aside, i still truly never forget that BJ Alex are very explicit with their sexualities. they're not just straight dudes who for some reason fuck and they would never fuck another guy. BJ Alex is very rooted in a story about queer people and their experiences. We see how different Chanwoo, Jison, and Donggyun deal with being queer AND how their different relationships because they were gay shaped them.
I never get tired of seeing that. So many BL and yaoi dance around what's actually happening. they want to have gay stuff but don't want to actually be gay. But BJ Alex doesn't do that and for all of its' flaws, it got one VERY important thing right.

ngl this was actually not surprising, but i'm gonna be honest it's a nice welcome. though they were both obviously in love with yuuzen, and they initially started their little situationship to comfort their broken hearts, but judging by both of their reactions during 1) the doctor reveal and 2) kou's nosebleed over yuuzen AND ginga, it's pretty clear that their relationship wasn't purely sexual. i think they both did end up liking each other too and personally i love it, almost better than the mc. but i'm also a sucker for non traditional a/b/o relationships (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

i love re-reading the second half of this because of how we get Jiwon's perspective. I already wrote my own review but man, I just appreciate the grounded aspects of BJ Alex outside of the sex scenes. Like the different views of coming out between Jiwon, Donggyun, and Chanwoo. They all handle their sexuality differently and its true to real life. Or how Jiwon wears a mask, both literally and metaphorically, masking his whole life and especially his sexuality. How Donggyun was treated when his high school found out he was gay.
BJ Alex has a lot of faults but one thing I will forever praise them for doing is actually connecting this webtoon to being about gay people. Not just hot men who sleep with other hot men and pretend they aren't gay. I'm so tired of yaoi men acting gay but never letting them actually be called gay. Donggyun is explicitly gay and Jiwon is clearly into men romantically and sexually, and mostly implied to be bisexual with a lean to men. And they go so far in the series to talk about coming out. I like that they're not using vague language in this webtoon. It's a mostly grounded webtoon, so it only makes sense that their relationship too is actually grounded in reality.
BJ Alex is my trash and I'm forever a defender trust (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
