She really is undefendable. HER ACTIONS ARE HERS and we should look past her past and see that she is sick and twisted too.

Yes she is "naive", yes she was traumatized, yes she is with people who don't help her prosper. But cutting off someone's tongue, killing those in her way, sending assassin's, kidnapping people for her own interest, abandoning her kids cause once again her own "happiness",going against people's advice cause she has to "shine" more than navier no that was all her. Don't forget that people have been trying to help her: the former empress, the maids ,and even the emperor tried. Like her whole wedding dress and wedding were people tried to guide her on what was best based on the people and her own image. But she always throws a fit cause she deserves the best and knows best. I can't defend someone who doesn't want help. She had her chances and she was to selfish and arrogant to take them. Then she just becomes a monster.

Heck since the very beginning she made it obvious that cause of her trauma she deserved to be empress no matter who she had to stand on to get there. She didn't want to help anyone but her self and I just can't stand her. There is just so much we can and should condone as a count of what she has been through. I have good news to you! You should read "For My Derelict Favorite" novel becoz its completed and one of the rare ones that have smut. There's a webtoon adaptation of the novel but of coz they're removing the smut content considering that's how they do their adaptation

It's a medieval class thing. Tan=poor laborer; Fair skin=wealthy noble.
A lot of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean media also perpetuate fair skin as a beauty standard. Might be from the same class divide bs but I'm positive the whole tan thing is more of an obvious bad make up job on FL's part.

FL is trying to distance herself from the ogFL's appearance and being tan, or even having her face one color while her body is obviously another, is seen as unladylike (nobility is judged on lineage, ability, and, in this Kingdom, beauty). Looking like a laborer with sunned skin makes her undesirable because, if a family's daughter is tan=the family is poor/on hard times (aka debt) and no one wants to marry into debt.

Gotta agree with that. She is doing her best to appear ugly by that world's insanely stupid standards and if she simply slathered on makeup, it almost definitely would have occurred to that moron of a cousin of hers to get a maid to do her makeup to make her more marketable. If he thinks her looks are irredeemable, he simply wasn't willing to spend more money on her to improve a 'useless' girl. If the cousin had even the barest notion that she could look better with a bit of makeup and snag one of the 3 original ml, he'd have jumped at the chance.
