I kinda wonder how they gonna do that 5 days thing. Some people love that stuff, but for me it only works if woman is showed to be just as horny as a guy. Usually the way stories do that stuff is that they make it seem like women are sacrificing themselves for the guys and act grumpy/didn’t enjoy it. I really do not like this type of trope. How did they do it in the novel? Was it the typical “Omg the ML was all over her and couldn’t give her a break” or was it actually mutual and FL was just as proactive and into it?
What I mean is that I’ve got my doubts about this kinda stuff, cause if it’s about sex this long (or shorter than that, but still long) consent is often dubious at best, if it’s not straight up SA in actual smut stories. That’s why I have my worries, I’ve been burnt before. Had to drop quite a few stories of this kind cause they suddenly introduced smut, but it was just… bad.

Yeah… so he was a trashy father. I don’t mean the whole „couldn’t see your daughter for 20 years” thing, I mean everything he did after meeting her. He didn’t see her for that long, but all he did was be rude to her and force his will on her. He treated her like a heir, not his child. He insulted her, controlled her (didn’t even ask her opinion on anything, just forced her to do what he wanted) and ignored her otherwise. Sorry, but the whole „he was awkward and misunderstood” does not work here. He was a trashy father. He got a bit better in the end, sure, doesn’t change that he was pretty much a deadbeat before.
But I also blame mother here. I don’t understand why she let him treat their daughter like that. She obviously has a lot of influence over him, she also knows he knows how to be affectionate because he is to her. If she knows he cares for her then she should’ve guided him on the right path, not just watch as he neglects her for 3 whole YEARS before saying smth here and there. He had 3 years to be decent and wasn’t. He pretty much forced a dangerous and complicated mission for her to solve alone, as someone who is supposed to be super powerful he was kinda useless. Concept was very unique, but execution was lacking. It was very rushed, important issues weren’t really explored in depth, everything just seemed very shallow. Even relationship between characters were pretty rushed, there was no time for build up of their bond. Especially romance, it was kinda just out of nowhere, no chemistry as there was no space for romance in such short story. Just really disappointed, it had a lot of potential
